so i work at a ski shop that is mostly a total gaper shop. basically all we have are elan and atomic skis, with only 2 pairs of twin tips. everyone aroud here knows the shop sucks, so its very rare to see anyone looking for twin tips.
so im working today, and this guy comes in to pick up his skis. i go back to get them, and they turn out to be ninthward first bloods. the cool thing about this was the guy- he was probably in his early to mid 40's, didnt have any kids or any other skiers or snowboarders in his family.
so i get to talking with this guy, and he says he has been skiing basically his whole life. i ask him how long he has been skiing park. he says he cant exactly remember, but he got a pair of the original salomon 1080's when they first came out, so it must have been a while
it didnt really hit me until a few minutes after he left, but this guy must have been one of the first guys to take skis into the "snowboard" parks of old.
you may be thinking, what is the point of this thread? well, i suppose it doesnt really have a point. i just wanted to share what i thought was a cool story (hansel), and i think its pretty cool that this guy stuck with park for so long, and even into his later years.
*sparknotes- 40 year old guy still skiing park, probably one of the first to do so
