Backcountry.com- the new Wal-mart

in recent light of backcountry.com reaching their 100,000,000+ goal in profit for the year, they celebrate by cutting over a 100 hours from just one department. that's right, this means that some full time workers went from 40 hours a week down to only 8 and only found out just today when the schedules for next week went out. way to take care of the employees. fuck you backcountry.

dude, i will back that up. i litterally just used it

i got an oakley sweatshirt, its water resistant. So its mad dirty and like wont wash out, its ripped a little, and the water repelancy went to shit.

so i go up and im like, dam man, this sucks, can i get a new one? their like sure! i asked what they could do about shipping. i got Free two day return shipping, and normal shipping back to me. So im getting a brand new one... that easy...

ur quite the dreamer. there is no way bc did 100 mil in sales, nevermind profit. i dont know it you noticed, but the last two months have been some of the worst for retailers ever and the US is in a recession.

2nd of all do you realize the amount of profit you are claiming? Especially for a site that sells such specialized product as backcountry.com

and please tell me how a reported sales of 52 million dollars amounts to 100 million in profit?

 $100,000,000 in profit is ridiculous.  What he meant was $100,000,000 in gross sales.  And that is across all BC.com owned sites (BC, BCoutlet, Tramdock, SAC, WhiskeyMilitia, Dogfunk, Explore64, and Chainlove).

And cutting hours should not have been a surprise to anyone at BC.  Most of the people they hire this time of year know it's coming.  Or should know at least.

You'd be surprised.  You ever go to their site and look at quantities of things?  The North Face Denali Jackets, 14,000 in stock at one time, and that's their biggest seller.  Picture a pair of skis where there's 100 pair in stock.  Cost is $200, sold for $400.  That's $20,000 just one one model of skis.

every company lays people off after the holidays because they hire people just for the holidays because they know they are going to get more bussiness during the holidays.

Ex. ups hires people for the moth of december only because they know alot of shipping goes down then.

Well, they are actually paid $48m to take on companies stock. They then sell this stock for $52m. This gives thema total profit of $100m EXACTLY. All wages and overheads are paid for by backcountry.com's (omg its a link) spancerzzzzzz.

Back country hires a shit ton of people/has a shit ton of people work during the holidays then guess what? Business slows down, so they need less workers. A lot of companies are like this and i would be willing to bet most, if not all, workers who were "laid off" knew they were going to be done working/wanted to stop working because its ski season.

so if they do 80 percent of their business in the last two months (which were the worst months ever for retailers) your saying they made 80 million in profit in the current retail environment. you're still retarded. and all the other numbers i've seen in this thread don't make any sense either, at least until someone can provide a link to their year end report.

sorry if you or someone you know got screwed over, but, like walmart, backcountry.com makes things i shouldnt be able to afford affordable. at least half my ski setup is from there, and ive never had a single problem. im not going to stop shopping there.
