Stowe Mountain, how is it like?

posted this in regionals some hours ago(i think), but then i realized that the North East region forum probably was as dead as the one for Fiji.

This is what i wrote:
Hi, my dad started talking about going to the US a while ago. It started out really unserious with him just talking about how he got his piloting education overseas. The first thing i said to him was that we had to  go to Colorado, this is not going to be a reality.

After a while he started getting really serious about it, and contacted the friends he got over there during his education.

If im going with my family im just hitchhiking with them whereever they go. My dad says that he wants to go to Vermont and he wants to ski. He's an old racer and wants to check out the mountain he looked at every morning going to the academy. The resort he was talking about was Stowe Mountain. I checked their website and it seems legit.

We're planning to stay there the entire time while in America, and i want to know how their park/parks usually are in mid february.  How are it compared to other resorts in Vermont and so on?

im hoping to get some nice answers

might be some misspellings in here, but i use the excuse myself with the fact that im norwegian.

i have some additions, some quick questions.

how are the level of the skiers there?
many newschoolers ski there?
additions?

would be nice if people didnt hate on me for posting this here.

the Northeast regional is pretty dead, but the New England regional isn't. Maybe you could have a mod move this thread to there?

As far as Stowe, it is a pretty solid mountain. It's located on Mt. Mansfield, the biggest mountain in Vermont. It's got good trees and glades, and the Front Four (check out the trail map on their website) and a solid park. Some of it's downsides include cost ($88 per lift ticket, I believe) and all the people from the cities (NYC and Boston) infiltrate it like crazy.

thanks man! i might go over there next year, and im pretty stoked about it.

anyone know something about the newschooling community there?
are there atleast someone who ski there regulary thats pretty serious about it?

stowe is sick, it can be pricey though but i think it tends to be less crowded then stratton and other VT mountains... stowe's parks are pretty legit and the other trails are fun too, you really cant go wrong with stowe.

If you can go anywhere in the US... don't go to Stowe. And I hope your dad is loaded because it is disgustingly expensive ($1500 for a seasons pass, I think). If, however, money is not an object and you're going specifically to the New England area, Stowe is probably your best choice.

I've skied there fifteen times so far this year on my student pass and for the most part it's been awesome. Some of the better terrain on the East and their park crew is pretty damn good. Right now they have a sick four jump line, their rail park is pretty weak (the one they had earlier in the season was way better) but it's not their final park. I've seen these guys at work and they seem really legit, I'm pretty hopeful. Definitely one of the best newschooler presences in the area, although there's more gapers than you can shake a stick at outside of the park (especially the gondola) and even inside it, but if the park crew is working they're pretty good about chasing them out. Other than that...short lines, fast lifts, I'm impressed so far.

soooo he obviously cant go anywhere chief...sooo why would you tell him not to go to stowe? especially if his dad has his heart set on, i never said you didnt give a solid review, you did

hope i'll see someone reppin ns stickers or stuff like that, then im going to shout out "how do you get to chad's from the bottom of alta?" and then i'll see how actually use ns regulary.

the tickets at stowe are 89$ which is a waste of money in my opinion, but besides Jay, it has the best back country in the east. Its amazing on a pow day.  They have plenty of hikable terrain as well.

stowe is nice. if you're into park they have a really nice one and the terrain is good. If you come to Vermont Stowe would be a good place to be. The only downside is how expensive the lift tickets are and how expensive the food is.

definitely go to stowe. its the least touristy and most fun place in vermont. most people form ny and ct go to places down south more. ist more canadian, but it is never as crowded as stratton killingotn or okemo. definitely go to stowe. it costs alot, but only 5-10 dollars more a day and places listed below.

1. Stowe is one of the most gaper-infested zones on the East Coast. It's just it's a big mountain with lots of tourist distractions, plus the gondola sucks a lot of them in, so it doesn't always seem like it. There's still a fuckton, though.
2. It's more than $5-$10 more a day, Stowe is absurdly expensive. Worse than Deer Valley.
3. It's still worth it.
