NS Call Worked Today

So I'm standing in line at Bonanza Lift at Park City today with my friend babujib, and all of a sudden, somebody comes up and says, "Do you guys know how to get to Chad's from the bottom of Alta?" With typical response, we tell him, "Ski Patrol blew it up, duhhh." Anyway, we go on to ski a few runs with TeeeRevor and another kid, but the moral of the story is, always ask about Chad's Gap. First time the call has worked for me, also.

the only time i used it it failed so hard.

the kid was wearing a NS tee, and i asked him how do you get from chads gap to alta.

he said i sorta forgot how to respond, and after a long awkward silence he was like, im going skiing now.

it was so painfull. never figured out who it was. barker lodge, SR early season, green tee for reference.

I was at if3 with a non skier buddy of mine and he was asked by some guys when I wasnt with him and he had no idea what they were talking about so they yelled ahhh go back to freeskier.com! needless to say I was jealous because Ive never experienced the NS call and my buddy did before me.

me and james44 kinda did
I had met him before at a premiere but it was the first time meeting on the hill and I skied up beside him in the park at Grouse and he asked me how long I can hold my breath and me being really confused replied is that the new greeting for NS? and then he asked me the chads gap one and we kinda went from there

It was cool, something from online being useful in life haha.

I have used it at some crappy hills in CT and it has only worked once. I was so stoked though when it worked though.

I've never used it, I normally just ask someone who has an NS sticker on his helmet what their username on newschoolers is. I've had a couple people ask me at whistler and hood though, it's a pretty cool feeling meeting new NSers

It worked for me once at a convienience store right by mount snow.

but today, I did the call at my home mountain, and totally fucked it up.

"Hey do you guys know how to get to Alta from the bott...OH SHIT"

but my friend covered for me and just yelled "Newschoolers?!"

turns out they had NO idea what we were talking about.

just a tad awkward

I pray for the day that the call works. I always am prepared to say ski patrol blew it up or You have to deal with the locals. But i cant ski because of a stress fracture in the heel it sucks so i say it in school and no one yet

seeing as your new here.. you missed an epic thread on newschoolers on how to identify newschoolers outside of the internet kind of a secret hand shake... basicaly if you see someone you think is on newschoolers you ask "how do you get to chads gap from the bottom of alta" and if they respond "you cant, ski patrol blew it up" you are golden.

I have to admit I failed at replying to the call out the other day. Totally didn't see it coming and was lost in the multiple possible responses. Kinda gave the dudes a wink and a nod as I knew what they were talking about but nothing more. I saw em at the bottom and confirmed they were on NS but I didn't take a run with em or anything.


Bottom line I failed miserably to reply to the call out. Sorry to you three NSers at Elk mtn. last weekend, you guys had some crazy suits and one was on thrusters I think. I be prepared with ninja like quickness for next time though.
