Telling parents you drink??

Ok well im 15 and i drink ( im basically a huge badass) and my parents dont know. When i say im going to party's they never have brought up drinking with me. i have never spoken to it with my parents before so i have no clue if there fine with it or against it. i know some of my freinds parents dont care about drinking( well aslong as the are responsible abou it, obviously) and will get them beer and other drinks and shit but then i know theres a bunch of my other freinds parents who are physco mother fuckers and would ground them for like a year if they got drunk.

My question is, should i ask them if they are cool with it. I kinda do because if they say yes it would make things way easier because i wouldnt have to sneek around behind there backs and shit but then again i kinda dont want to ask them because that would tell them i do drink and would make them supiscious ( because im 99% positive they have no idea i do any of that stuff)

so tell them or no?

Spark notes: I dont think my parents drink, should i ask if they are cool with it or not?

p.s. Im not posting this to be like " ohh im cool i drink" im just asking.  and that whole bad ass thing at the start was a joke so dont think im serious, lol.

maybe say to them that there's gonna be a party that you wanted to go to really badly, but then you heard there was gonna be alcohol and ask them if it's a good idea to go. then they think you have good judgment and haven't been to a party with alcohol, and they trust you when you say you're going to parties in the future. i never had to deal with this stuff luckily because when my friends drink around me i don't because they do it in public and i think it's a recipe for disaster (it always ends up being a disaster), so i was always like the responsible kid out of all my stupid friends until my brother started taking me to parties with seniors where me and my parents have a legitimate understanding that i drink there. so since you're not lucky like me (i'm 15 too btw) you might wanna try what i said earlier. good luck man!

thats actually a rreealllyy good idea, like the best ive heard so far. Because, exactly like you said, it will show im responsible and have good judgement. And i think they would probably say yes.

honestly i know it sucks lying to your parents but there are few parents who at 15 would believe you are mature enough to drink. Wait at least another year to even confront them.

my rents offered me drinks 4 times tonight. that shit gets old when i say no every time.

but if they havent talked to you about it don't bring it up. your kind of young for them to be chill with it.

I would just wait for them to talk to you about it, but in the meanwhile be smart. Don't drive drunk (its hard), and dont get in the car with any drunk drivers.

also if you are ever stupid enough to drive drunk, rest your forearms on your legs so you physically can't swerve nearly as much, that could save your life sometime.

Meh I dont know but if you know your parents well youll probably know what kind of reaction they would have, the best thing if you do tell them is obviously damage limitation if things go wrong. i.e give them enough information to make them feel that your honest with them without giving them too much info just say you drink a few beers n stuff to enjoy yourself but never a lot, itll let them think your being responsible and let them get used to the fact your drinking without worrying to much if your gonna be wasted.

Tbh at 15 I would assume your parents would know that you drink if your going to partys and shit, they probably did at their age, maybe its a bigger deal in North America though with a higher drinking age but in the UK your expected to take 20 units or so by 14 otherwise youd be french or something? I dono above method of being honest has always worked for me.

personally...i would just drink and stay over at a friends house if possible..
but if you really wanna get your parents to talk, get your friends to bring it up while they are at your house, but make it seem like they are joking. hopefully that will get your parents going

i dont really know. i just snuck around until i got caught. had to go through a little talk with the parents but then i was back out a couple weeks later. id say lay low for as long as possible

it all depends. i have friends that got cought drinking and they all got grounded for like over a month, and their parents dont trust them really

my brothers are both a lot older, i guess when they were 18, my parents would offer them a drink, but they never drank with friends infront of my parents. we we're recently on vacation, and mym mom said do you guys want a beer, and jokingly i said yes, and shes like... not you.... but if i want a sip or her beer or wine or my dads scotch (they dont drink a lot at all, this is on occasion), they dont mind at all. but they dont pour me a glass

so i keep it on the DL. I told them juniors brought alcohol when cops showed up at this party (no one had been drinking yet though, im a sophomore, im 16). they said, well i hope you wouldnt be stupid enough to do that. so like i hint at it, but i still dont think they would be cool if i came home hammered...

im not really sure, kinda in the same boat as you. i really want them to say "brian, we dont want you to drink, but if you do, dont be an idiot. dont get in a drunks car and dont over drink." so atleast i can feel more safe about it. but im not going to risk it by telling them i do occasionally...

My mom knows my brother and sister drank in highschool, but she still seems to think that drinking kills half your brain cells. She's a stay at home mom now, so she watches the news 24/7 and reads all the "studies" in the paper that say alcohol will make your teen fucking braindead.  It really pisses me off, it seems to me that there are a lot of kids who's parents are pretty chill about drinking, but i feel like if i even broach the subject of drinking, even if i say i wouldn't get really trashed and never drive, they would freak out on me and start calling my friends parents and shit.

I guess it really depends on what kind of people your parents are. Are they people that have dinner partys with there friends and drink or do they keep much to themselves. Do they drink much when they go out to dinner or when there home? My parents have a beer every 4 weeks I'd say at the very most. Therefor I'm guessing they wouldn't be too happy with me drinking.

If your parents are about parties and alcohol I'd say go for it. If theyre like mine your better off hiding it.

and on a sub note 15 is pretty young to start drinkin. I see alot of kids from my former highschool starting to get into drinking earlier and earlier and it's not good. It's like they can't have any fun without alcohol. I've actually heard it out of some of there mouths "I can only ___ when i'm drunk."

Seriously man you got plenty of time later in life to get fucked up and shit. plus I dunno what you are into for sports or clubs at school but if you get something like that on your record it sucks. BUT if you feel the need....be fucking smart and cool about it. you'll get way more respect for drinking for your own reasons rather than to drink more than someone or be cool or what not.

Seriously, don't even bring it up as if it's a big deal. Just let them see you bringing booze home or out to parties or wherever. If you act like it's not a big deal and don't try to hide it from them, it's kinda like parental reverse psychology... if you act like it's nothing you need to hide from them, they'll figure it's not a big deal for kids your age to drink and figure most parents are okay with it. Most parents wanna be about as hardass as other parents, not a lot worse.

Man just don't really bring it up or talk to them about it but when they do you basically have to say, hey, I know you don't want me to, but I'm going to be my own person and you can't really do shit about it (politely.)

I had that problem with smoking.  My parents could never understand why I went to so many Halo Parties when I was in Jr High and High School, so finally they started making my curfew earlier and earlier cause I wasnt telling them what I was doing.  One night, i came home and my mom was pissed I was like 10 min late, so I told her what I did.  She didn't respond (which means she was pissed) so I kept talking about how I would prefer staying there, or whatever.  She finally told me that she doesn't care about that, it was me being stupid while I was smoking that she was worried about.  In the end, she started letting me smoke at home, just not in the house.  Then she told me later that her dad was a stoner, so she never really cared to begin with.  Honesty is the best policy, even if it gets your ass beat in the end.

wonderful idea, my skiin buddy drew was like 16 and his dad found out he smoke alittle ganj and drink as much as a noromal high school kid drinks, so his dad sent him to a half way house(rehab) for like a year and he is still there.. and i dont think its a very fun time

i wouldnt even bother to sa anything to your parents..if they dont bring it up then theres no way the have a huge problem with it...they would have talked to you by now if they did have a problem with it

Nooo don't tell them you're 15 FFS. Seriously, don't bring it up. Chances are unless you have very ''cool'' parents it could turn out worse than if you got caught. Wait another year at least. Besides, I personally think you could find better things to do with your time but I'm not going to lecture you about that.

my mom doesnt really care as long as im not sneaking it and im not driving or get the cops called on me. my dad on the other hand would probably strangle me with a belt and pee in my butt if he caught me drinking but he is aware that ive done/do i t

just this morning my mom just found all my shit, mini bong, weed, hookah and hard a and beer in my backpack in my car. she must have gone through it while i was asleep. she hasnt said anything yet all morning but its really awkward and i hate it. im basically fucked.

Yeah my parents are pretty chill with me drinking and going to parties. And this is because I kinda eased it on them. I would kinda hint towards it really slowly to the point where they were kinda ok with me drinking.

i drink and smoke here and there, parents have never noticed..i have come home stoned or drunk but i usually go to bed right when i get home so i dont do anything stupid...bottum line keep it on the DL in my opinion..my parents would flipppppp if they found out (thats prob cuz their asian )

my mom works for budweiser and she has caught me about 2 or 3 times. She doesn't approve of underage drinking. Your rents apparently don't drink. that is all I have to say about that.

I was 15 in grade 9, so with that I'm a little confused.

But I'll try to be as helpful as possible without sounding condescending.

At 15, you really shouldn't be drinking. But you're also in highschool, the place where you learn the foundation for your future social skills, so drinking IMO is kind of a necessity if you want to be ready for that lifestyle in college.

So your parents, if they are like most parents, will not want you drinking. I'm actually glad I didn't have parents that approved of me drinking and partying (I had a ton of fun sneaking around).

But what I would suggest, and only do this if you think you are an excellent bullshitter, is to go to your parents and ask simply tell them that some of the parties you've been going to have had an alcohol presence. Assure them that you haven't drank out of respect for them and the law, but ask them what they have to say about the situation.

If you have somewhat understanding parents, they will acknowledge that kids drink and you probably will eventually. They'll probably say that they are cool with you drinking responsibly as long as you keep communication open between you and them. They'll also be very proud they raised such a responsible kid and let you have a little more leniency when it comes to weekends and all that jazz.

Or you could have some dicks as parents and they'll tell you that you're grounded the second they hear about you drinking. Let's hope for the first situation.

yeah, i don't know what you're doing drinking at 15 man. i was at a party at my friends house once and his little brother and friends were boozin. me and my 2 buddies were just watching football and this kid comes up hammered.

us: you guys wanna play pong haha
him: nah, i'm kinda drunk
us: so, lets go play. are you driving or something tonight?
him: dude, i'm 15.

we fucking lost it.

if you're not old enough to drive drunk, you shouldn't be drinking.
