Telling parents you drink??

Ok well im 15 and i drink ( im basically a huge badass) and my parents dont know. When i say im going to party's they never have brought up drinking with me. i have never spoken to it with my parents before so i have no clue if there fine with it or against it. i know some of my freinds parents dont care about drinking( well aslong as the are responsible abou it, obviously) and will get them beer and other drinks and shit but then i know theres a bunch of my other freinds parents who are physco mother fuckers and would ground them for like a year if they got drunk.

My question is, should i ask them if they are cool with it. I kinda do because if they say yes it would make things way easier because i wouldnt have to sneek around behind there backs and shit but then again i kinda dont want to ask them because that would tell them i do drink and would make them supiscious ( because im 99% positive they have no idea i do any of that stuff)

so tell them or no?

Spark notes: I dont think my parents drink, should i ask if they are cool with it or not?

p.s. Im not posting this to be like " ohh im cool i drink" im just asking.  and that whole bad ass thing at the start was a joke so dont think im serious, lol.

you should probably just hint around at it and ask for tastes of their beer or whatever at dinner. be sneaky. or get super hammed and come home to them sitting in your living room and try to act cool. whatever works for you, i personally went with the second one.

do not tell them that you drink, but ask them if they would be okay with you drinking. chances are they'll say something like "as long as you don't do anything stupid."

just wait till your dad or mum is having a beer and ask if you can have one and see what their reaction is.
and if they say no and why, just say your curious.

I'm 17 and my parents know i drink got a bottle opener for christmas :D  and its a good idea to drink before you go to uni because then you wont be so overwhelmed.

yea thats like some of my freinds.

Like yesterday I was tryin to get an 18 for me and my freind to split at the party we were going too but my beer guy ditched because he had tickets to the canada vs usa world junior game. so i was left beerless and had to mooch of people but too of my other freinds who were suposed to get beer from that guy just bought beers of their parents. like i want my parents to be like that.

yea dude im 15 too and when i started out goin to parties my parents obviously knew i was drinking but didnt really say anything about it. now when i go out they just sorta ask if im gonna be drinking tonight and just too be safe. trust me its alot more chill when you know that your rents know you're drinking.

ha...the second one is how mine went...me and 2 of my friends got a sober ride back to my house junior year of highschool....heres how it went

me - "alright guys we got to be sneaky they are probably in bed"

*open door from garage"

me - "shhhhhhh be very quiet"

mom/dad - "alex?"

we don't say any words for like 6 seconds

me and one buddy walk to the living room all cool like...the third guy walks and trips and goes

"god i'm so fucking drunk"

haha it was great...

they didn't care to much seeing as we got a safe ride and such...the only thing they tell me every time even now that its college is...don't drink and drive, which is totally respectable

Dude, just be totally honest with them. As a 24 year old I went through all the normal teenage stuff and my biggest hurdle was honesty with my parents.

If you can be totally honest at all times your life will be so much better. Trust me on this one.

i snuck around my parents my fresh. and soph. year in HS, got my liscence as a freshman and drove intoxicated all the time, lied alot to my parents about what i was doing.. it didnt leave me feeling too great about myself the next day... im a senior now and they dont care as long as im not driving drunk(now that i know that they are fine with it i know that i should have just told them back when i was a freshman). im really releived to know that i can call them and say im staying where im partying at or ask them to come get me. im lucky that i never hurt someone or myself all those time i had to drive home drunk to make curfew. just start bringing it up casulally and let them know that you are mature and smart about drinking and that they can trust you. if they dont like the idea of underaged drinking then lay off for awhile and approach it again another time. dont make a dumb mistake though

^I agree with being honest with your parents.  So far when my parents have asked if I drank or did drugs, i've been totally honest with them and told them the truth.  It might have been hard for them to believe, but I think that it was better that I was honest and told them I did that kinda stuff rather then them finding out a different way.
And I have friends who try to lie to their parents at every turn and it isn't pretty.

werd. my parents knew i drank since i was about 17, just the same ritual speeches everytime i go out now, "dont drive drunk", "dont get anyone pregnent", "pass out on ur face, not ur back"....honesty is key, they might not like it but they will feel less betrayed then when i cop has to tell them...

Dude, don't even worry about it. You're 15. Your parents will become cooler with it as you get older, so you shouldn't expect your telling them to make them insta-cool with it. Patience, you have a lot of time to worry about it.

why would you ever tell them that? they will just lose trust in you. if they haven't ever talked to you about it its either because they dont care (i seriously doubt that). or they dont expect you to do that

yea im thinking its the second one. and the only reason i would tell them is to see how much they cared. but i might try the whole "can i have a sip of your beer thing" and test them that way OR i can just play innocent and have them think im a little angel or something.

dude this is so true. my parents used to be fucking psycho about drinking. I got caught drinking like 4 times before I was 16, so I talked to them about it and now they know that im gonna drink and theres nothing they can do about it. im 16 btw. but to get to that point you kind of have to be open about it with them. just sort of drop subtle hints that you drink, or you could just tell them straight up like i did and it worked out pretty well. Idk I would normally say to definitely talk about it with them, but in your case when it sounds like they have no idea I would say just go with it and when they eventually catch you (if they ever even do), then you can have this talk. it is kind of nice though to know that when you come home shitfaced you dont have to be too worried about it.

your parents probably have a kind of laid back attitude about alcohol if they ask you to grab them beers and such.  However most parents wouldn't be happy if their 15 year old was drinking. don't ruin a good thing. wait till you're at least like 17 to bring it up.

I don't know where he lives (i'd assume Canada) and I'm not positive, but the drinking age is 19. He just sounds like a whiny bitch... I wish my parents were cool enough to buy me booze... he just turned 15 too or some shit because i remember in some other recent thread he was only 14.

I'm just saying at 15 there are many other things to do than to drink.

I remember a thread he made recently about rum and coke and pretty much trying to claim it.... who makes a thread about being able to fall asleep because they were drinking coke and it has caffeine in it.... WOW. He didn't even need to mention that it was rum and coke... all he had to do was say if I just drank X amount of caffeine, how soon will I be able to fall asleep. Like I said... claims like a bitch about drinking

so much easier, just stay clean with your parents, so long as your mature about it they won't have any problems, I'm a drunken sailor / alcoholic So I know best.

You make it sound like i drink likes its my hobby. i only drink when there is party's, i just dont drink everyday like your trying to make it sound. If there are two party's in one week well ill most likely get drunk twice that week, if there are no partys for like a month then looks like im not drinking till then. And who gives a fuck about my age, im actually one of the last of my freinds who started to drink, some of my freinds have been getting drunk at parties since grade 8 and 9. Im not trying to go around claimin i actually want to know if its easier to tell or just let it be, i thought i made that clear in the origional post.

and as for my other thread, that was like the only time ive had a drink when im not at a party, i was watching football and was bored so i figured why not but i was worried i wouldnt be able to fall asleep because i had to get up early the next morning. i also admitted it was a fucking retarded thread
