Patrick Lalime for the Ottawa Senators had a really good season last year and a .910 record. Now he in 30 games, his record fell to .905. I like lalime, i think he is a good goalie, but things just arent goin to well for him. The questions, should he be traded? and Do you think Jocelyn Thibault would be a good replacement to get the sens to the cup?

thibault is a stellar goalie, but i think that it takes more then just the skill one player to get a team to the finals. you would have to assess how the trade would affect team morale, salary cap (for other signings) and faith in the orginization by both the fans and the players. that being said, i think that in the right situation, lalime could be a cup winner, and thibault could too. i didnt really answer your question did i? sorry.

ottawa was a favourite entering into the season, and now they arent even in the top 3rd of the league. The offence is awesome, albeit unlucky at times, and the defence is one of the best in the leagues. Your right, the morale wont be good after a trade, but something has to change. Maybe because its the NYR angle, they are getting paid more, and dont play as well.

sens should stay like they are, they will bounce back, true lalime is a bit sketchy right now, but come playoff time that will all change guaranteed, sens will step up.

all the sens need to do is make the playoffs, and the rest will fall into place. and they will definitely make the playoffs.

Are you on crack? Trade lalime? He isn't the problem. The sens got all the breaks last year, and they aren't getting them this year. Look at their record in one goal games, that could go either way. That could turn around in a hurry. Even if things WERE that bad, and they really aren't, look at the Dallas stars; do you think they should deal Turco because they're sucking ass? Fuck no. The sens will rebound, and no need to make hasty trades specially for an organization that hasn't got the cashflow to accomodate many options. Besides, any save % over 900 is fine for a starter. Look at Tommy Salo... he hasn't been traded, and his is terrible.

ye ye!
Sens will bounce back.. don't worry about it, Lalime is a quality goaltender.
Cloutier, now there's a good team with a goalie that doesn't match... just my opinion. What do you Canucks fans think?

^Yeah and that's gonna last too. Anyone wanna explain how the red wings are still winning with about $50 million in injured players?
Cloutier blows, Hedberg doesn't. Enough said.

Uhh.. Detroit keep on winning because they have another $100 million worth of players on the ice!?!
Whatever dude.. the Leafs have gotten points in all twelve of their last games. I don't know if you've had the oppurtunity to watch them, but they are playing pretty damned well. They havn't had to trade away all of their prospects in order to remain in contention.
As long as they remain relatively healthy.. they should reamain in contention for the cup this year... then again I think I came last in last years NS Playoff Hockey Poll. (who could have forseen the events in the WC?!)
Let us Leaf fans be, because for once we have an exciting team to watch!

Yeah I saw them beat the canucks. It was pretty sad actaully, leafs just outworked them. But I'm still amazed at the wings... they have datsyuk, hull and shanahan playing and thats it. injuries: Yzerman, Holmstrom, Zetterberg, Chelios, Hasek, Legace, Thomas, McCarty... good thing they have a decent pool of young guys. Wings and Avs always draft well.
Yeah leafs r playin well... but I don't see them finishing at the top of the NHL. Maybe philadelphia will now with comrie, depends on the goaltending.

That's 'cause I hadn't seen this post... until now!
I think the problem with the Sens is that they really don't care that much right now. They want the cup and that will show late in the season and in the post season. Since letting in that goal from half ice, Lalime hasn't been stellar. He's been better since his flu, but you can tell when he goes down early that he's not at 100% confidence. Should we trade him? Remember when we got Barrasso? Did he help us in the playoffs? Lalime will shine when it matters. I'd rather see him peak late in the season than early. Do you actually think that the Leaf's inspired hockey will last right through to June? They'll probably finish top of the division, but then they'll fizzle out before the conference final. Hopefully they'll lose to Ottawa. Side question: How long do you think Stajan will last in TO before they trade away their prospects for another overpaid geezer.

I hope they keep Stajan, and I'm guessing they probably will too.
Unfortunately they had to give up Brad Boyes when they dealt McCauley for Nolan. Otherwise their group of prospects is still pretty good, and they really havn't given too much up in the last while, unlike another team *cough Philly cough*.
Though not rookies they've kept Antropov (though it's be hard to trade him with his long list of past injuries) and Ponikerovsky as well as Tellqvist.. and they've got a whole 'nother list playing with the Baby Leafs.
You're right, I'd rather see my team peak going into the playoffs on a hot streak rather than now, but right now it is nice to see how well they can play. Sundin is probably the best all-around forward in the league, and right now he is proving it.
