Canon Powershot A200 is shit. You have to hold the button down for like 30 seconds before it takes a picture.

Get an Olympus Stylus. I'm not too sure about the action performance but they take good quality pics and are water resistant.

With most cameras you have to press the shutter button down 1/2 way so it can expose the area and focus, that takes about 2-3 seconds, but when you press the shutter the whole way it'll take the pic right away so you can get the skier in the air at the right time.

If you know much of anything about photography you can manually expose the scene and it takes even less time. Randall, the problem with yours is that you got a cheap camera with no manual controls so while you press the shutter it's doing tonnes of shit for you, that's why it takes so long, press the shutter half way and then press it full way when you wanna take the pic, that'll work better.
