i got some volkl walls as my back up ski if that is what you are asking .. but damn i just can't believe it .. i thought line solved this problem last year.
i dunno ive used my bacons for five days and one night and they are holding up really good, a few scrapes on the top sheet and some small base nicks but thats it. no delamination though.
Yeah, it seems like he might just be talking about topsheet chipping. If it bothers you, which it really shouldn't, I remember someone suggesting taking a file and shaving the topsheet edges down at a 45 degree angle. I've never done it, though.
ive got a spot behind my bindings where i have a bad chip in the top sheet, but unless it gets bigger it should be an problem. if you have something like that, throw some epoxy in there and clamp it together for a night and it should be set
i've put like 8 days on my bacons and they look new, i hit a 10 footer and landed directly on a rock with my left ski and there isn't even a scratch, from my experience line makes bombproof skis
It really doesn't matter what everyone elses experience is, there will always be some bad pairs of skis. With only 6 days those should be well inside your warranty.
haha dont worry guys i know the difference of de lam and chipping and the whole fron of my ski is faling off haha. about 6 inches down from the tip is completely split. but yeah i intend on sending in my lizzies soon .. think i should wait and try and get next years?
ride them as long as you can, and send them in at the end of this season....besides the warrantee taking a while, line will most likely send you 09-10 lizzies if you do it this summer or late spring...i did this with my old invaders a couple years ago and i got 07-08 skis before most stores had them
lines quality is shit i dont know what they are thinking.... i have seen blends that looks like a 4 year old made them...well it makes sense if they are made in china.
the quality on my blends is flawless. 6 days of beating on them and the topsheet is nicked in two spots, no major damage to the bases from rails, and the snow/coverage around here is super shitty. the craftsmanship on them is top notch.
then again, we dont stock them in my shop, and in my area, they are overkill, so i havent seen another pair. i just love fat skis
I'm not trying to thread jack, but since your talking about problems with line skis, has anyone noticed if the bases and edges on last years lizzies are super thin? I have only skied mine about 5 days and I already got a few nicks that appear to have core showing through. The nicks aren't even that deep, I've seen much worse without showing core.
nooby question i know sorry but can sum1 explain the difference between 'delamination' and just top sheet chipping. sorry, but thanks for the help, truly.
Delamination is when the entire top sheet starts to pull off of the ski, while chips are exactly how they sound, small chips in the top sheet material. hope that helps
i mean...i have seen blends...brand new never touched snow that have edges not properly placed into the base, and the base bein inconsistent with the edge profile...meaning the base has point where it is lower, and even higher than, the effective edge.
not to mention the gaps between the base and edge itself.
