Freestyle ski teams ?

i'm thinking about joining a freestyle skiing club at my hill ...  and i wa swondering are they fun and what do some of you guys who have experience  in ski clubbs or w.e   so i was swondering what are some of hte pros and cons of them ?

I skied with the Central Canadian team for a couple of seasons. It was really good for me because I got a lot of good coaching and my skiing got better. It also allowed me to get out of Manitoba to ski in the mountains a lot morre than usual. Competitions were super fun and competing at a national level is a blast, getting to meet awesome people that don't remember you now haha ( Margetts, Henetiuk, etc.) Anyways yea, if you want to do it do it, it will be the funnest time of your life if you have a buch of cool people wanting to ride and get better.

i have to say im against it. it could just be from my personal experience tho. i joined schweitzers team 3 years ago with my friends and did it for 2 years. i met some great people but i honestly do not think it was worth it. it was a shit ton of money, the system was horribly organized, and the coaches were cool but really didnt help that much. i think that if you cant improve just by being inspired from some hyphy edits and a little name calling from your friends than your not gonna improve from some old dude telling you what to do either. i like to be free when i ski, do what i want, when i want. and that experience completely took away from that. its just me tho, maybe your mountain will do a good job and really help you out. i dunno. hope that helps

thanks alot , ( guwesss i hsuoldaput this in the SG forum my bad ... but anyways,  thanks for that thats what i wanted to hear aha ( in otario is where i am )   is skiing in the comps fun ?    liek are they a really pressured atmosphere opr just go out and give it yur best kidna atmosphere . thnaks ?

yea taht helps ( i liek to hear both sides of the story ) alsomy mountian is shitty small too, but NONE of my friends ski, except 3 if i joined it itld be more to meet people adn what not that ski  but yes thank you

it depends on the quality of the coaching you'll get relative to the price you pay, chances are you'll see some dramatic improvements, meet some cool kids, and have a lot of fun, maybe even get some sweet discounts on gear and stuff

i know when i was on CU freeride team sometimes it was tough to see the coaches logic on particular drills, but in the end the couple of years i did ski with them i learned a whole lot. I eventually gave up on the team because it was too expensive and the focus of the team didn't match my focus, but i still ski with the friends i made on the team, which probably was the most valuable thing i got out of it.

It was really weird, It was like the worst feeling in the world right before you were about to drop into the pipe or bump course or airsite. Crazy nervousness. But after you start moving it all goes away and its like you are in your own little world. I'm sure you know the feeling without having competed. On the othr hand though (not to claim or anything) I skied in the Canada Games which should have been the highest pressure event I've skied in but at that event I was the calmest I've been at a comp. Maybe you just get used to it? i dialed my first seven there, and as for moguls I knew I had no chance anyways, I had to ski against Cedric Rochon in duals haha. Maybe that dealt with the nerves. I'd say go for it, maybe I just got lucky with really awesome coaches though. Your call dude


Oh and for mogul comps, waiting at the top before your run, bootskiing will be you favorite sport ever. So much fun, you can master switch bootskiing.

thanks , yea i know that nervousness i get it when im about to start a race for dh biking   i rather  like it im not gunna lie ....    but, yeat hanks for all the help guys    and the price isnt too bad  its like 340 ish to go every sat nad sunday  ( sucks cause ialready missed a month of it  oh well tho )

competing and shit traveling and it can hlp if your looking to get
sponsors
most coaches have connections
the only con would be actually trainng aha
well sometimes the coaches make you do just basoc skiing
like proper turning andstuff
but with my team its pretty chill
like when there is a powder day
we dont train really
we just ski powder all day together is tight

why do you have to go for a 'trial' day?
i was on a team for two years (first season since leaving now.) and I got alot out of it but after the two seasons I dont think I could get much more, not worth the price at least. that was just because of who the coaches are tho, make sure the team your looking into is worth it.
when it comes to being fun or not, it can be a total blast if you get along with everyone and what not, same as any other sport I guess.

a trial day is because i can see if like hte kids and the coaches and the program its self i dopnt wunnapay almost 400 bucks and hate everything about it ...

lucky ...  at my town are hill is shitty   its tiny and the biggest jump is like tasble where you can barely get enough speed too3  or 5  and NO  kickers it sucks aha

the staff on the mountain dont bulld us anything so its gay
cause we have to build everything most years
and the park suck but there are lots of mountains around where i live

well yeah but all they give us is shovels so for exapmle
we wanna biuld the 50 ft this year again
and its kinda hard ith only a bunch of shovels aha
but this year they might help

Freestyle clubs are awsome. Especially if your mountain is has a crappy park and the airsite is nice. I've improved sooo much since I've started freestyle and it gives you more motivation to ski a lot more. Plus, comps are fun and you get to travel a bit.
