I honestly thought bobbys run should have won. I just watched it again and his sw misty 10 was really clean with a good landing and so was his kangaroo flip. His sw double did have a knee grab but then again jossi didn't grab well or land very well on his sw right 10 either. plus, lots of people are doing sw 10s both ways but I haven't seen anyone besides bobby brown do two double flips in one run combined with a really solid sw 10.

jon is 100% right, as usual.  People need to realize that Jon is hating the judges and they all deserve it as far as I am concerned.  When did Jon unveil the kangaroo?  Was it when he could huck it no grab and barely land?  no, it was when he could do it with two grabs: the japan and the safety.  I have always respected Jon and those middle schoolers who've never seen Propaganda or 1242 should keep their mouths shut.

bobby is sick for sure but i agree with jon in terms of the judging....as a former competitive mogul skier I've seen how judging can ruin a sport

It's funny that Jon would say the judging of Bobby's win was bad, considering only a year ago he poorly misjudged Bobby at NAO.  Besides, this argument is rediculous, Bobby's run was better as people have said above, and to top it off he has style, even in a no grabbed double.  Since when do we have to grab tricks?  When you watch MFM, or pep, or pollard, they don't have to grab everything.  It shouldn't matter if Jossi grabbed or not, his right 10 was tech, as was Bobby's, but id take Bobby's no grab over Jossi's shitty japan.  Jon has no room to speak when he claims grabs are important but can only do safetys and japans anymore it seems.

+K to this guy for actually having a legit reason why bobby should win, and this makes sense. If the features are scored individually then Bobby should have the higher score overall.

So I am sitting here watching Jossi's and Bobby's run on my Tivo.  I am going to compare them differntly than PK and Jon did.  They took every jump individually and compared them against the same jump from the other competitor. 

I am going ot take the best jump against best jump.  2nd best against 2nd best. and 3rd best against 3rd best and see what happens:

Jossi - switch 630 on switch out.  Swith right 1080 (almost tail).  Switch left 10 crossed japan. Switch left 9 nose.  Rail to 630 out.   89.50

Bobby - 450 on  to switch out.  Switch misty 1080  solid mute.  Swich double rodeo 9 (no grab).  Kangaroo japan grab.  revert.  rail to misty 450.

Now, lets break it down a little bit.

First rail - switch 630 to switch is harder than 450 on to switch.   - JOSSI

Best jump - Switch Left 1080 japan vs Kangaroo Flip japan - Kangaroo Flip wins (both are sick though) BOBBY

Second best jump - Switch 9 nose vs Switch Misty 1080 Mute -  Switch Misty 1080 Mute wins BOBBY

third best jump - Switch right 1080 almost grab vs Switch double rodeo 9 no grab.  Niether had a solid grab.  The double had more amplitude.  The double is harder.  BOBBY

last rail - rail to 630 vs revert + rail to misty 450 off.  Tough call. 

Now, you can easily see that Bobby should have won. 

Bobby was the only one sticking double flips that I saw, why? It seems to me that the conditions were terrible and most athletes were having a hard time even clearing the jumps.  Bobby comes out and almost clears the landings with sick doubles. 

Jossi is a great skier, and could probably beat Bobby most days of the week (not sure since I haven't really seen Bobby ski that much, but I know Jossi has a ton of doubles up his sleeve).  However, at the Dew Tour, Bobby was the clear winner.

I agree in a way. He just went a little over the top. I agree stop going huge and make what you have perfect. Make tricks technical not just throwing a big trick. The judges don't really understand it the way we do.

i wouldnt say that, but if only for the sake of the general public they prefer to award the awe factor and dont put as much emphasis on style. which, unfortunately is the opposite of a lot of newschool people.

hey bobby is the man....  the judges in breck obviously preferred the doubles over the spins.  maybe next time it will be more about both 10s... who knows..its really not a big deal.  i say congratulations to Bobby!

I am glad I suck at skiing whereas I will never enter a  high-caliber event and need to worry about the judges favor of difficult spins and flips, versus innovative and/or stylish simpler maneuvers.

Don't forget Schrab's double misty 1440 or whatever. As much as we'd like to forget the Schrab brothers part in skiing history some might call them pioneers of the sport as we know it today.

i almost never agree with jon, but frankly i think he's dead on.
if everyone keeps flipping and spinning just as fast as they can, we're going to be aerials with rails.
yes it takes balls, yes it takes a crazy amount of skill, but if you want to just flip and spin like a tornado, become an aerials skier.
do a switch unnatty rodeo 5 double grab instead of a double rodeo hucked.
but i do agree with some of you in saying jon's a hypocrite because he did start the doubles trend.
either way, there's my two cents.

today, "freestyle competition" is an oxymoron. it can't exist. they are mutually exclusive aspects of skiing.

the last time "freestyle" was rewarded in a competition was in the 70s when bob "boogie" mann was doing slow dog noodles in bump contests and winning. he was basically giving the judges and spectators the finger and getting points for it.

this is a stupid debate.

Who were the judges?  Usually they have pretty well respected athletes making the calls.  I'd be surprised if they had judges that didn't know their shit.

ugh. ive read this like 4 times, and this part really frustrates me. jon is OBVIOUSLY, not anti doubles, and therefore not a hypocrite. he started the doubles game. but from the very beginning, when he unveiled the kang flip in comps, he did it with a grab. he didnt half ass it the first time he threw it, he got it absurdly dialed, THEN took it to the comps. so i fail to see how that makes him a hypocrite.

and im not trying to call you out here dude, ive just read that a couple times and wanted to point that out

im so glad that someone that people actually listen to said it. bobby's run was no doubt crazy, but grabbing needs to be more important! and even though i hate spinning the wrong way cuz its scary as fuck, that definitely should rate very highly too.
and with the pipe, a lot of people spin both ways pretty well, but the grabs are still lacking. neither simon nor tanner, nor a lot of other athletes, grab on every trick in their run. maybe they should wait until a trick is a bit more on lock so they can grab before incorporating it into their run. then again, just as jon said - then the judges wont score them as highly and they wont win. athletes and judges need to be on the same page, but considering most of the athletes are not only on different pages, but reading different novels, it seems likely that that will take a long time to happen.

i wish my computer blocked out "BEN.", and i didnt have to read any of his 6000 worthless posts. how many peoples comments do you pick apart without thinking or understanding it. in any competition, its run for run, and the run is your score. so a grab in the first run dont count in the second. but your not sure anyway, you just wanted to up your post count right. in your profile it says you dont ride park. do you know your ski from your "pole" when grabbing?

a) what did i do to piss you off so much
b) why do you think i care so much about my post count. so i post alot.
c) regarding the grab. people keep saying he didnt grab one he didnt grab one. i dont have the comp on my tivo anymore, but i seem to recall that he grabbed both in his first run, and only one in his second. or maybe it was the opposite. regardless, he at least ATTEMPTED a grab, and didnt just hold his knees. but hey, its a comp, theres always gonna be controversy.

hope i didnt offend you by posting again. the internet clearly is a big deal to you
