Need help with helmet and music capabilities...

I currently own a K2 Crossfire which I really like. I got the music addition which is sick, I can mute it with a button on the side and actually listen without having to take glove off and shit. I really like it but the cord is getting frayed and about to tear any day now. I have put electrical tape on it, but im afraid its only delaying the inevitable and then no more tunes in my helmet.

I have looked EVERYWHERE for the K2 Baseline ACS which is the headphone earpads that go into the helmet. I don't think they make them anymore and I cannot find anyone who carries it. Unless I can find one, ill prolly get a new helmet that has built in music.

I wanna make this helmet work cause I love the system but cant find the setup anymore. Anyone got any sick helmets that have nice built in sound system or capability to add? I saw the Girl helmets are the shop but I dont have any experience with them

I would love to have something where I can mute it on helmet just like my current helmet. Any suggestions on what helmet has an exceptional music ability at a reasonable price? I am a broke college kid but music is essential to my skiing and I will not wear ghetto headphones under my helmet.

The tuneups 2 from Giro is pretty good.  I mean the quality is skullcandy so it's shit compared to real stuff but as far as on the hill audio it's fine.

i have the tune ups, its pretty sick. also, i bought one of these (http://cgi.ebay.com/FM-Tuner-Radio-Remote-Control-for-Apple-iPod-Video-Nano_W0QQitemZ290283827972QQcmdZViewItemQQptZOther_MP3_Player_Accessories?hash=item290283827972&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50) or something like it, its basically play/pause, forward, back, volume up/down in a little thing that comes off your ipod. so i can keep the ipod in the pocket, not have to take it out to skip songs, and then the helmet is plugged into that thing. its a pretty sick setup, really easy to use. So like instead of muting and still having music playing, you can pause and shit so its awesome

Giro 9 or something like that with tune ups, got it for like 50 bucks off of Evogear.com
then i bought one of those things (not that one, no FM crap) for like 5 bucks off ebay. its a peice of shit but it works. plus it works when my ipods on hold, so i save battery and i can change the song, change the volume, play and pause. also the tuneups has a mic and a hookup for you phone so you can make calls through it. i'll try to find the one i got

You are my hero right now man! Its too bad that Evo is only selling XS and S at that price right now. I am definitely gonna get that remote and probably the Giro 9. Do you like the fit real well?

most likley any chord would work. Id just call k2 and get oe for free. but unless the male and female outlets and inlets are abnormal to other helmets i imagine a chord from tuneups would be fine. When i rocked audio helmets i went through 4 chords last year. Iv got a friend at the local ski shop and he just kept hooking me up.

yeah, i like it, its comfy, but it looks weird, but i have a big ass head and a weird shaped head. like i can't wear hats or anything cuz i look like a tool. so the helmet basically sits really high, like kinda goofy, but if you dont have a weird head it should be fine

Well the thing is that the one side of the wire is like hardwired into the earpad I think. I might just end up cutting up the earpad and see exactly what they layout is like. But I am pretty sure that shit is wired directly into the earpad. I dont know how I could fix that.
