Well, I'm going to Okemo over Feb. break for two days. But, as it turns out where we're staying(rutland) is right in between Okemo and Killington. I'm already going to Okemo, but I'm considering going to Killington the second day. Do you think it's worth it to go to killington the second day, because the stash sounds sick and the regular terrain parks also look nice. Thanks.
Im at Okemo right now. i skied it the first two days i was here (24th-31st) and i was unimpressed. Their big park has like 5 features and its the length of the entire mountain. the other three, including the kids park, weren't even made yet. Two days ago i went to stratton, had a ton of fun even in the slush. Today im going to Killington, i'll let you know how it is, but im pretty sure it will be good. Their a huge mountain, lots of people so they definitely gotta have their parks up and maintained.
As for the stash, thats opening in January right? that sucks cuz im missing it. But i spent two weeks in New Zealand this summer and skied the stash at the Remarkables, its mad fun, and that was back when it was only 1 of 3, not 1 of 5, so it was like even specialer, ya know? haha
Stash is open. Timberline park is open with small features, and then Mouse Run is still open with larger features. They were starting to get ready to build the other park over on Dreammaker with the large features but the warm really screwed that up.
Conditions are icy as fuck right now, but the parks are maintained pretty well overall.
Killy is definitely worth checking out one of those days as it's only a 30 minute drive up there from Rutland.
killy is ok... i'm not sure what okemo has but killington has some good rail features but not any decent jumps... they have a few awkward jumps but nothing worth raving about. the stash sucks by the way. as soon as they open dream maker/the pipe/the jumps next to the pipe/the rail garden at the bottom of outer limits shit will be on!
killington was fun, but yeah, the parks we weren't that great. lots more rails than good jumps. the stash would be sick, it needs some work and they gotta keep the gapers off of it. i saw people pizzaing through the park, falling when they try to make turns, like actual beginners learning in the middle of a terrain park. it was really a pain in the ass....
Same thing I saw in the stash, people everywhere not knowing how to ski. They would line up for the jump and bail at the last moment. The stash could be pretty cool though.
