I just heard on the news that someone died at whiteface (lake placid NY (1980 oylimpics)) they said he lost control on a ""BLACK DIAMOND TRAIL"" (dumass local news) Does anybody know the whole story thanks and RIP to the nameless skier.
I'm sorry to hear that... turns out it was a 44 year old guy. Heres the link for the local paper: http://www.pressrepublican.com/homepage/local_story_364213739.html
Whiteface IS a pretty steep mountain though, and the conditions have been far from good lately.
I went today and I definatly understand how even a decent skier could get hurt/killed it was hocky quality ice then mogul ice mogul nothing to hard if you had enough space but you trying to weave your way throught the herd of rental people while the hardcore racers are weaving through both of you. I had a couple close grazes with other people... the park was nice though
I am a local skiier you prolly saw me in my plaid. any ways it was on johns bypass which is a fun connector trail not that extreme. and yesterday is was boiler plate (not the mountains fault rain for 3 days then 20 degree weather) and im glad you thought the park was nice but be honest it was hard we have a lot better park days then today and RIP for fallen skiier
