Andes Tower Hills - near Alexandria, MN (Kensington, MN)
January 24, 2008
$20 Entry
Registration at 2 pm, Comp starts at 4. Come early and watch the snowboarders compete.
Each age group will be given 30 or 45 minutes to lap the jump as many hits as you can get. Best trick wins. Cash Prizes. The more riders that show, the bigger the purse.
I work in the park and talked the guy setting this up into adding a ski class. The hill has been overrun with snowboarders but skiers are making a push lately. If you think you could make it or are interested let me know. I need an estimate to set up registration and classes.
I'll keep this updated as we get closer to the show.

How big will the jump be and what kind is it? like a step down, or ones like at spirit?

It is not a step down. Just a straight up double with pretty good kick. I haven't seen Spirit's this year but I am guessing it is similar. Right now it is measured at 30 feet lip to tranny but I think we will push it back. The local pro snowboarder threw a super smooth rodeo 7 as it is. I'll take some pics and see what the promoter wants to do and if he wants it bigger. I will post as soon as I have a better answer for you.

It throws you up pretty decent as is but I think 40 to 50 with the same kicker would be dope.
Regardless, everyone hits the same jump and has the same air time.

^^no doubt but it would just make it feel more legit. like 35 is so small and to do a rodeo seven on that small of a jump, kinda would have to be hucked. but maybe not if it throws you up super high. but ya i agree 40-50 would be bomb.

Alright guys here is the latest on this competition:
The manager made us tear down the jump we had set due to some gaper morons that over shot the jump and got seriously hurt so we are building a 3 jump line this week on another run. It will be a 25', 35', and a 45'. Riders will hit all three jumps instead of one big one. I think some sweet variations could come about from this setup as well. I'll try to get some pics up as soon as we set these up and get some test runs in.
All times are Eastern (-5)
