1976 Games Qualifier – Killington, VT
More than 30 years ago, Denver was awarded the 1976 Winter Olympics - until a coalition of activists and politicians staged a campaign that forced Olympic organizers to Innsbruck, Austria, instead.
The year 1976 will finally have its day here in the States starting in Killington, VT where qualifiers will be hosted for a chance to receive a trip to compete at the 1976 Games Finals in Winter Park, CO April 16 – 19, 2009.
Who: Teams of 4 (skiers)
What: A re-creation of the 1976 Olympic Games in every Old School way…
When: January 8, 2009 During the Killington College week
Where: Killington, VT
Participants will compete for fame, glory and honor in Snowblade-cross and Old School Big Air
Schedule of Events:
Thursday January 8th, 2009
• 8am – 9:30am: Registration in the K-1 Lodge at Killington
• 9:00am – 10am: Snowblade-cross practice
• 10am – 12pm: Snowblade-cross race
• 12pm – 1pm: BBQ
• 1pm – 1:30pm: Old School Big Air Practice
• 1:30pm – 3:30pm: Old School Big Air
• 4pm – 6pm: 1976 Games Awards & Apres Party

Judging/Prizes:
Teams will be scored on overall performance in the Snowblade-cross and Old School Big Air events as well as overall Team Creativity & Style. Get your one-piece on!
1st Place Team will receive a trip to compete at the 1976 Games Finals in Winter Park, CO April 16 – 19, 2009
Additional prizes will be awarded for best costumes and team mojo.
Equipment
• Must provide own equipment for Old School Big Air
• A limited amount of snowblades will be available for the Snowblade-cross. If you have access to a pair with releasable bindings for your team, please bring them.
