YO LADIES!! Mt. Hood Meadows, OR is starting a GIRLS FREERIDE TEAM. They are looking for outgoing girls to help promote an aspect of the sport that the ski industry has thus far been lacking. You do not necessarily have to live near Hood, or even in Oregon. You will, however, need to be able to make approximately 10 trips there throughout the season for various film/photo/clinic/competition/etc.-type functions. SKILLS ARE NOT THEIR FIRST PRIORITY, THE ABILITY TO REPRESENT THEM WELL IS. If you're on this site I'm assuming you've at least skied (OR SNOWBOARDED- yes, boarders too) at least once or twice. They will be recruiting all ability types, from the Leskinens on down to the first-timers. This is in hopes of spot-lighting women in general, encouraging more women to spend time on the mountain, without scaring them off. They want to show women that they don't have to be able to do a cheese-grader-staircase rail to enjoy themselves. (think: Kristi's Oakley ad) This will hopefully be really groundbreaking and constructive for women in the mountain sports.
