dynastar warranty

i've searched the dynastar site but can not find it anywhere. i was told by someone yesterday that any visible evidence of riding rails voids their warranty. that is horrible. progression in this sport is sooo necessary with companies and their warranties if they are going to continue to advertise with their skiers on rails & have their reps and riders promote how 'bombproof' & 'great' their skis work on rails. it's just no right.

i understand it will cost them that much more in warrantying skis, but in turn it will force them to put more time into the r&d of producing stronger skis. just my opinion.

I dont think that is true. Dynastar and Look are pretty good when it comes to warranties. Although, it helps when the rookies dont all start sending their new trouble makers after a chunk of edge tears out from hitting rails every day for the past 3 months. That shit happens. Dont take advantage of good companies like dynastar. You should use good judgement in what is faulty manufacturing, and what is normal wear and tear.

i'm not taking advantage of dynastar or any other ski company. last season i rode my scratches for 60 days even though during the season they came up with some issues that could be warrantied.

same with my troublemakers this season except now they need a lot of work to become rideable on a regular basis again. what i'm saying is i should have just sent them back after the first day i rode them and they delammed...now they have rail damage and i can't even have the ski warrantied for the delam. i didn't want to have to send my skis back after one day...now i can't send them back at all because of rail damage?

if anyone knows where to find a copy of the dynastar warranty it'd be great if you could tell me or post it. it is nowhere to be found on their website

why not contact them and try to explain that you are not trying to warranty the ski due to neglect, but due to the delam. They might be able to help you out somewhat, but another problem is that most warranty work is handled through shops, and only equiptment sold at retail is supposed to be warrantied, so if you paid less than retail, that may be another problem.

someone wonderful is bringing them up to dynastar for me tomorrow. hopefully they'll at least replace the one busted ski. they were purchased through a shop...but i don't think the shop is going to put in a good word if dynastar calls

Basically from what ive heard from a few diff shops and other sources is this.

Say you delam the ski, not your fault. If you then go and blow out an edge on a rail BEFORE you warranty the ski, your chances of getting it warranty'd are very diminished. You cant send them up and say 'ignore my fuckup, please concentrate on your manufacturing issue'

from what ive also heard that its written in the warranty that any rail use voids the warranty. Whether or not the factory stands by this, or their more lenient, is yet to be seen

For most warrenties, rail use does not void the warrenty completly... you just can't get warrenty for damage caused by the rail. The way its stated in most warrenties is that the company does not have to warrenty 'impact dammage' which can mean sliding rails, skiing over rocks, crashing into a tree, whatever. i don't think 'impact dammage' voids your warrenty, you just can't get warrentied for that reason alone.

I have thought about this also. But then i thought, in all the trouble maker adds there is no skier sliding a rail, so i think dynastar does not support rail's in the first place. If i am wrong please correct me.

Why do skis come with no written warranty? When you buy a new car the tire warranty is a book, outlining all the things covered and what you get if something happens. ski warranty policies are not very accessible at all. I also think we need some reform in the way rails are considered.

I have the same problem.... bust an edge on the rainbow this summer, and even tho it a 'park specific' ski, they don't want to know. Is kinda a bitch. Does anyone know how board manafacturers handle rail damage? just it would be good as a counter argument if they are more supportive to this problem....

straight out of 4FRNT's warranty:

'This warranty does not apply to damage resulting from accident, abuse, negligence, or impact (striking a rock, post, etc)'

this is the same statement that every other company uses to avoid replacing your rail damaged skis. So, who's to say if 4FRNT is going to replace them or not... it probably hasn't come up yet.

I sent my concepts back this fall after one season (with a 2 year warranty because I had P12's on them) because the edge completely ripped out.

They called me up, shat all over my skis, wiped their ass with my Proof of Purchase, and told me that the warranty was void because they could see where my edges were worn down from rails. I told them that worn-down edges wasn't the problem. A complete lack of edges (the result of a poorly-built ski) was the problem.

They dealt with it really badly. First, they offered to send me a single new ski. Just one ski, used. For $50. Plus $30 shipping.

Next, they offered me TM's for $300. Anybody can get TM's for $280 from any Dynastar rep. I rejected that.

THEN they offered to ship my completely useless, broken skis back to me, for $40.

I won't be buying from Dynastar for a long time.

^ thats fucken gay man...... these skis we are skiing on are made for abuse, made for rails, made for basically fucken jibbing anything you can think of.. Maybe they should stop advertising skiers on rails in magazines if they wont replace ur skis if u mess them up...... I cant stand huge industrys/corporations.. conglomerates suck also

on second thought, what company in their right mind would insure skis for ripped out edges. Its not just dynaster it is all companies. Skis arnt ment to be slammed against metal, rails fuck up skis and everyone knows that. Companies would lose soo much money if they did that. thats why everyone needs a pair of shit skis. However most skis should be able to hold up resonably on rails, which most do. But when edges blow out it almost always because of excessive use. For example when the edges blew out on my candides it was from skiing over concrete and asphalt and slamming the shit out of them on rails. Because of this abuse there is no way that i would ask for a warranty.

Here is the way that most ski companies should deal with the problem...just think of it this way

If you have a jepp (which is made for 4 wheeling) and you are off-trail and something from under the car gets ripped off from hitting a rock or something that isnt jeeps fault...but if you are just driving down the road and something from under the car falls off, then it is jeeps fault...

right guys...but you cant exactlt send someone a new edge or some p tex...This kid should email dnastar. I had a pair of Look p 7.5's. I rode them for two seasons, making them 3 seasons old. I blew them apart, emailed dynastar, saying I love you, can I have another. 10 days later I had a new toepiece, no questions asked and I live in CO.

nice the guy was in a good mood and did take them back for a new pair. he said he didn't have to, but hey its that time of year he must be in a jolly mood. i still think that ski companies should have their warranties at least listed on their web sites

Yeah last year I had a pair of p12's and i fell off a rail and got my ski caught in the inside of the base of the rail (there was no boards on the side) My front peice of the binding snapped totally in half... I got in contact with the dude who I got my deal from, and he happily sent me another pair.... Maybe its cause I got it through the rep deal, but they were mad cool with me to.... u got me

so my dynastars have a two year warranty because I have lok bindings? I always thought it was a year, Warranties should defintely be on web sites.

Yeah, I got mine through a rep deal too, but I was treated like shit by Dynastar.
