ACL ?

I just found out that i need surgery, and i was wondering who else out there had surgery done on there ACL and if you fully recoverd? THANKX

I've snapped my right ACL twice, in May I get a kadavar's ACL put in to replace my broken one.

First time I was off my leg for a few months, August to January, then I was cleared to ski.

Second time was a little longer but not much.

i tore mine last march skiing. then 8 months later tore the new one on a tramp. just had surgery. cadaver. so uh just do the physical therapy non stop and it will all be okay.

i had mine and was doing rails in about 4 months in whistler over summer, it hurt alot and swelled up every day i skied on it, but this will be my first full season after surgery

anterior crucial ligament. the recovery is a pain in the ass. lots of pt. i was skiing 6 months after surgery though. feels great now except when riding on it hard for a few days in a row

I had my ACL rebuilt this January. Recovery is a bitch and the only way to speed it up is to do the physio. But really good hospital drugs. Get morphine.

i tore my acl mcl and minescus last year, and had surgery in may, i can ski fine now without pain, but recovery is a bitch, tons of pt and doing nothing

My friend tore his ACL in indoor lacrosse 1 and a half years ago in april, in august the day he was cleared, he got in a bad car accident on the way hope from the doctor. He broke his femur in 2 places, his nose and he also literaly broke the steering whell with his face when his seatbelt broke. he is fine now with lots of metal in his leg and starting his first full season in 2 years on skis this year.

your acl keeps your knee from sliding forward. then the pcl i think is what its called keeps it from sliding backwards.

so yeah i just tore it 2 weeks ago. no skiing humph. well recovery just sucks. its not hard just gets annoying. bending is the worst. crutches suck but im on a cane for now.

ya its a bitch good luck man. i got 2 surgeries lined up for afta ski season. fixin my lcl and miniscus in left knee and reattaching my bicep tendon somewhere else in my shoulder. o well . i get to ski

it sounds like that i dont want 2 have anything happen 2 my ACL....ive got the 1080 boots and some look piviot bindings?? does this keep me safe from tearing it from the bindings? and what kind of falls tear ur ACL?

You can hurt your ACL by making your knee move to far forwerd out of the joint (ha ha ha joint) or to the sides. it doesn't really matter what kinda bindings you have your ACL can be hurt anywhere. i hurt mine jumping 3 feet off the stage at school,i wasnt ready for the impact and my knee just shot out side ways and hit the ground. hurt like hell. i'm lined up for surgery in about 4 months. it's going to be hard to stop doing shit like skiing and skatboarding but next season will kick ass. i hope all your ACL's, MCL's and what ever you hurt getts better and thank you for the info.

There is no PCL, just a Patella Tendon, it holds your kneecap in position. Attaches above and below the actual joint, which is why you can move the cap side to side.

You have an ACL, MCL, and LCL

i thought it was called pcl. but there is a tendon that crosses over the acl that keeps your knee from sliding backwards. i know that for sure. i will go find out what it is called. i thought the doc said pcl but i will figure it out. im 100 % sure its there.

i swear there's a posterior cruciate ligament. it's the opposite of the ACL. then you have the MCL on the sides? not totally sure, just know that i'm skiing with a busted ACL and a knee brace for the 2nd season.

im in sports med in school and the teacher dude told me that the stronger youre quads and hamstrings are the less chance you have of fucking up your knee ligaments he said that training your leg muscles can avoid most knee injurys

i knew there was posterior cruciate ligament. i was talking about it with my doctor. he said like 95 % of people can tear that and have no problem. even some people can go with no acl's. its all about knee muscles and how your cartilidge and knee is shaped.
