You rarely here of a slope sliding, what been heavily tracked this early in the season. But it’s not un-common in late spring for a heavily tracked slope’s to slide.
its your repsonsibility to be educated about the conditions and dangers at the mountain you ski. the snoqualmie incident is the only case that i've ever heard of somebody winning a legitimate ammount of money and beat the skier responsibility code (although i think the case decision is still in appeal).
in any case, the skier responsibility code means a whole bunch. and unless the law has changed in the past year, i know that Colorado's skier responsibility code kicks ass, it stipulates that no damages, ie money, reperations can be collected from a resort due to the inherent risks of skiing, which includes avalanches..
wow thats crazy, and I'm leaving tomorrow to go ski squaw for a week
When your skiing inbounds you just don't expect an avalanche. Is it the resorts fault? No, they moniter the slopes and bombed that one like they should and an unlikely and unpredictable slide occured and its a shame but its not anyones fault. When we go skiing or do almost any activity we understand the risks involved, try to stay safe, and when something bad happens its tragic. I hope the best for his family and friends.
