Messed up toe

Short story

Went to SKI RACK they fitted me for wrong size, now my toenail is about to fall off and I cant ski Im going there in the morning.

Details;

So I went to the SKI RACK in burlington VT and wanted to get fit for some boots. The dude measured up my feet and recomended the techina agent 110 in a size 27.5  I tried it on and it was oviously too small. I said this and he replied " You asked for a preformance boot and that is what it should feel like, I can fit you for a ski boot or a lodge boot its up to you but I will not warrenty any size bigger than 27.5" (SKI RACK warrenties fit for any "race" or "preformance" fit for three years ) So I was dude it doesnt fit so I tried a 28.5 and it was wonderful he then convinced me that I didnt know anything and  it was suposed to feel like that. So I bought the 27.5 skied it five times know my right big toe is swollen purple and the nail is no longer attached to the toe (it kinda hinges at the back where it grows from) I can barly walk let alone ski  I am going there tomorrow morning to see what they are going to do about it.

My question to you

I just dont understand how a shop that is so highly regarded and respected screwed up I was straight up with the guy and he didnt listen to me. What do you think they should do? obviously fix the boot issue but They just mounted my skis and If I have to change boots they will have to be remounted... I got new boots this year so I wouldnt have an extra set of holes in my skis (their alpha 1's so gettin a new pair this year isnt happening) I just dont know!

i think all shops named SKI RACK just suck balls...my local shop is named that and they mounted my elizabeths backwards, after charging me $50 for a mount....and i stopped shopping there for boots after the "boot fitter" tried to sell me a pair of telemark boots for my "twintippers"...fucking morons

I used to have both of my big toenails fall off every season, I thought it was normal, but it turned out I had a half size too big, so by toes were slamming into the front of my boot. I got resized and a heat-moldable liner and my toes are fine. go to a different shop with a GOOD boot fitter.

cut your toenails? and like the person above me said, the 27.5 might infact be too big. if your foot is sliding around in the boot hitting the front, it's gonna hurt. throw some sidepads on the liner to hold you foot into the back of the boot and keep it from slamming into the front. or if you're super duper good, just don't land backseat, ever, and you won't have a problem.

My toes are constantly touching the end sorta curled up... and I keep them VERY short becuase of this

Don't lean back. Most toe problems are caused by poor technique. I highly doubt they sold you a boot too small.

Yeah apparently it is the right size I went there today and they were supper legit they spent like an hour and a half adding foam to my footbed and moving spacers around and basically smoothing out the bottom of the liner. They definatly did the right thing...

if you have problems at ski rack, go to Alpine House. they have better customer service and they will hook you up with deals if you suck up and say you saw product X at ski Rack but you would rather give Alpine the business. My sister had problems at Ski Rack.  She ordered a pair of technica boots and then they called her to tell her they were in, when she went down to get them, they sold them to someone else

Good to hear they fixed ya up, my toe nails feel off last year and they are going off this year due to poor fitting at christys sports. They set me up with a 28.5 pair of rampages, which were so comfortable i was stoked. Then the liner packed out at the end of the year and i got toe bang and lost the nails, after just a few days this season the nails started to go again, and then i got frostbite because the boots are too big. I went to get fitted at boulder ski deals who immediately put me in 27.5 as the right size. Cant wait to go pick up the bb pros i ordered once im back in boulder. Remember the boot will pack out over time and become more comfortable.

What was your shell fit? 1 finger? 2 fingers? More than that? That should be one of the first things that any good shop does when they bring out a boot for you to try on.
