Bristol Mt.

Who skis there? I know this should be in regionals but fuck it. My dad and I are plaining on taking a trip there on saturday/sunday. Is it a decent place to ski? Would it be worth the 8 hour drive? Final Question, if i go is the park any good?

Bristol has been my home mountain for years and I love it.  All of the kids in the park are real friendly and chill.  Yes it's a pretty good place to ski in New York.  I think it would be worth the 8 hour drive because its a good place to be.  There are 2 parks, a big and a mini.  Right now the big has a C rail, rainbow rail, down rail, kink, a few pretty decent sized jumps and a half pipe at the bottom.  The mini has 2 rails, 2 smaller sized jumps, and a culvert pipe.  Since your going on Saturday/Sunday, you will most likely see me.  I'll be wearing full blue Lethal Descent and I have a pair of Invaders.  If you see me, just give me a shout lol.

Bristol has a few jumps up?
Are they the their decent sized ones or just the tiny ones?

That's pretty sick none the less. I miss a few things about going to school in Rochester.

i don't know if its worth an 8 hour drive haha i would say drive to somewhere like hunter mountain or something like that in new york.  i go to Bristol now cause i am a student at RIT and thats the best/clostest mountain in the area.  but the park is just meh ahah and same with the skiing.  so personally i would say not worth 8 hours. go some where better

agreed^

park is pretty legit flat... the jumps were all pretty shitty the past few weeks, take offs for boxes/rails were sketchy, and the rest of the trails werent anything special.

and to the person who said the kids in the park were friendly, id have to disagree; however, this is only my first season at bristol and dont have a time tested opinion on that.

I'll be there this weekend visting family in rochester.... so i'll be up at bristol a few days.  also... how much snow is up there right now???  enough for some urban???

when i left school (last saturday) there was plenty of snow for urban rails. id say like 1.1-1.2 feet

Bristol is a fun place do ski, it was my home mountain for 7 or 8 years, but I would'nt drive 8 hours to ski there. If you want a good park in the east, your main options are Mount Snow, Loon and maybe Waterville. Big Boulder seems to be up there as well. Blue Mountain in Ontario might be a similar distance for you and has a decent park from what I've seen.

its pretty fun, but to be honest, the park is nothing worth seeing right now. i was in it last sunday,
there is a few ok rails, and the jumps are 10 feet range, although pretty easy to just ignore the landing on.
The main problem is that all the features are at the top leaving a long flat beginner groomer to ski on, and the top features are not easy to hike because of speed issues.

i agree completely.
honestly though, the park is pree tight, but you may be disappointed if you're driving eight hours.
buuuut the people there are bros, and its a great mountain all around.

to the thread creator did you end up going?
cause i was there that weekend too.

i assume i live near you because i'm about six hours away.
i suggest you go to big boulder if you want probably the sickest park on the east, it'll be closer to you.
creek has a great park too.

went there last night.

jumps were TERRRRIBLE, its sooo poorly designed.  The only good jumps were the spiny types in the progression park but they're mad easy to overshoot.

what the hell are you talking about bristol is mad nice the jumps are fine you just need to sit on the back of your skis but its still fun just to throw down some threes

haha i used to take my family vacations with my parents to bristol:) back in like 02/03 03/04 somewhere in that range...i'm from cleveland and it always used to be a really fun time for me...i don't know how bristol is now but is the slow ass lift still running up the park? i hated that thing

Maybe i'm just spoiled from Woodward @ Copper Mountain but they could have it set up so much better.  The last jump is awful, it's way too big and you knuckle that shit all the time.  It doesnt help that its on flat land.

The last jump in the big park? That jump is pretty nice. I've never had problems with the knuckle, only overshooting the whole landing. Agreed that the jump setup is not up to par this year. This is because the person running the cat is brand new to it this year, so he's still working out the kinks. But then again, that doesn't explain the awful planning that they had. Who puts three jumps on flat land ranging from 15ft to 30ft? Especially with a headwall right after them... retards. About 3 years ago we had a nice 2 jump line after the headwall (20ft true table into a 30/35ft step over), and it was amazing. I wish it was still like that. Good times.

yea, that last jump.  It's way sketch and i never wanted to hit it because when i saw a friend of mine hit it full speed, he knuckled the shit out of it on the flat part.  We ski the same speed and he's a pretty fast aggressive skier so I never hit that because I knew i would never be able to clear it.
