No poles convert!!

i went no poles for 1run in the park today and i gotta say it was so fucking awesome! i always thought no poles looked super retarded. going no poles helps you grab, spin, butter and ride rails so much smoother, easier and stylish. its really worth it.. give it a try at least once you wont regret unless you love racing.            and also me too i thought that my poles gave me balance so i should keep them but the i was really wrong. poles are a jibbers worst enemy.

I only use poles at mountains.  At friends houses they get in the way.  Honestely I've gotten used to it.

ive gone the past two years never using poles, that includes pow day's which i had plenty of, you really just dont need them at all, even without poles we get around a shit ton easier than snowboarders so you cant complain, it just makes everything feel so much more flowy and surfy.

i use poles but it is still fun to drop em for a couple runs sometimes, really helps me with balance and focusing on grabs

i dont use poles for rails because mine broke last weekend and i learned how to do rails without poles. but on jumps i will probably use them, drop them on the occasional run to try without poles

no poles is fun as in the park, never used them last season, but when i wanna do proper skiing i get em, helps with initating turns i thinnk, but in park, just jib around with the hands free.

I love skiing park without poles its so much nicer. As for pow and actual skiing, poles are a necessity.

i was definatly looking into skiing the first day of my trip with no poles bc it wont be the hardest stuff on the first day, i was thinking that it might help me with balance and not dragging my poles as much

is this true?

I broke one of my poles halfway down some really technical rocky stuff the other day and felt so naked the rest of the run. It was really weird. They help me a ton with balance, I think riding without them would help me improve though.

I went no poles for a season then kinda just went back to poles cause I felt like trying it again and now I feel weird without poles. It's fun to do, but most of the time I prefer poles for sure.

it's cool that you decided to go without them though. i don't think it's about being able to pull it off or anything, as long as you have fun. it's the best feeling in the world to be able to put your pole into the powder for a pole plant in my opinion. plus i like skiing with poles, some people don't like too. personal opinion really

i haven't used poles consistently for 2 seasons. I feel awkward with stuff in my hands, I'm never sure what to do with them. except for deep and steep, pole plants are a must then

Yea i used to rock no poles like 4 years ago and I have learned since then that you are a much stylish and better skier with poles.  every little smurf out there with no poles just appears awkward and generally really rediculous because you don't know what the hell to do with your hands and your body positions have to change so much to accomodate your airs without the extra little balance boost that poles give.  Unless you absolutely rip or are Pep Fujas then you most likely look like a square and should get yourself some style-sticks.  yea

incorrect. just converted my best friend who's super stubborn to no poles here at alta, and he was the last person who i thought would do it, always hated on it for years. we shred storm days without poles all the time, its fucking ridiculously awesome

no they arent, this is coming from an ex-racer here, i can ski every bit as well without as i could with. you just have to be disciplined and keep your upper body quiet.

see i cant stand the look of poles, i think it ruins style, just having long shafts sticking out when you do everything just bugs the shit out of me, i just hate how it looks, i think having a little more flail looks sick, it reminds me of skateboarding. i prefer a slightly sloppy style to a perfect style like jon olsson. it just doesnt look natural, then you add poles flying all over the place and it just looks plain dumb. to me atleast
