i went no poles for 1run in the park today and i gotta say it was so fucking awesome! i always thought no poles looked super retarded. going no poles helps you grab, spin, butter and ride rails so much smoother, easier and stylish. its really worth it.. give it a try at least once you wont regret unless you love racing.            and also me too i thought that my poles gave me balance so i should keep them but the i was really wrong. poles are a jibbers worst enemy.

yeah dude welcome to the club! i hate poles only use them if the snow is really slow or im just lazy/tired. i hate spinning switch with poles i always land on them and break em i broke 3 poles last season learning switch 3s - 5s right now i use 40in (im 6'3) poles anything bigger really fucks with my spins

Hey i wonder what snowsport is kind of like skiing in terms of 2 planks...and doesn't use poles.

opinion: Ive been skiing the last 2 days without poles since mine are in a thule a few hundred miles away. First off, skiing without poles blows. Not only do all my friends (including snowboarders) have to wait for me to get to the lift line, but I have to skate like a dumbass to get there while my hands flop like flaccid penises at my sides. Carving is not enhanced whatsoever without the use of poles, and it is significantly more awkward. Haters-you can tell me riding with no poles makes you a better skier because your balance improves without poles. That's great, but you can be a great skier and I will still laugh at you for penguining up the lift lines. goodbye

yeah i really dont give a shit about lift lines, i like to concentrate on the skiing part of my day.  and if i dont look super awesome in a lift line like you probably do then great, i dont give a shit, cause ill have more fun when im actually skiing.    seriously who gives a shit about lift lines?

going Nopoles is gay, plain and simple.  If you ride nopoles you may as well quit skiing and rock some skiboards, and while your at it make a new account at www.skiboardsonline.com it is the newschoolers of the skiboarding world.  You can then further discuss your love for nopoles with your fellow skiboarders.

I fall a shit ton more without them when i try to land switch. Idk why my polls are like 35 inches and im 5'8 anyways so they don't even do anything. Besides help me drip with steez.

i drop my poles sometimes, usually just when im hitting jump lines. they are good for pushing off but thats about it.

the possibilities for new tricks increases a lot when you loose your poles and grabs are way more solid usually.

sweet, you guys look like a bunch of racers, gapers, and cross country skiers with your poles flying all over the place. look at all the steeziest skiers out there right now, half of them dont use poles, and the steeziest of the steeziest, pep, doesnt.
poles just remind me of competitions and forced style, and of course racing.

come on man stop the hate skiing is skiing and there are many forms that deserve respect on their own
the bottom line is poles make learning easier since you have less to worry about but for me they help my turn rhythm and balance so whether you ride poles or no poles just bring the hate down like the guy above said its all about having fun so stop bothering other people and worry about yourself

snapped my poles today so I thought I'd try no-poling.  it's really fun but you work your ass off in pow and work a lot harder across the mountain overall.

yeah i ski on and off with poles and no poles. i usually wear poles but sometimes i dont cuz i fell like it. but as others said above me poles are needed for like pow skiing and just turning

it also turns me away from no poles when i see all these posers at my mountain who suck but think theyre so badass cuz theyre not wearing poles

exactly what i wanted to say. will anybody shut up with the "less hate, more shred" and the "stop hating all the aspects of skiing" we dont hate other aspects of skiing we just find freestyle the coolest and most difficult aspect
