So last year I decided to get a new pair of boots because I had heard so much hype about the new Salomon freestyle boot line. So I went online and ordered them from untracked.com and slayed the park in them all last year. But at the end of the season I saw that my boots had cracked and split apart at one of the rivets. Not knowing how the hell that could have happened I decided to try and warranty them because I had spent so much skrill on these boots, and had them break on me after only one year.
So the deal for warranty with any of Salomons products, is that you have to go through the store/dealer you bought them from. This makes it 12 times harder and longer to do. I called up untracked and they had me send my boots in to them, so that they could send them into Salomon. So I get my boots out in the first week of September. Untracked gets the boots in 2 weeks and the boots go into Salomon, which takes another 2 weeks. 2 weeks go buy and I hadn't heard anything about what was going on with my booties. So I call up untracked wondering if they have heard anything from Salomon and they said that they have no idea what’s going on and why Salomon won't contact them on what’s going wrong. I decide that I should take control of the situation by giving Salomon a call. I got in contact with the company and they start to give me the run around that they will warranty the boots but don’t have any product to send me. I couldn't believe that a huge company didn't have any boots to send me and told them that I needed boots and suggested store credit with untracked. The guy tells be that he needed to talk to his boss and he would get back to me as soon as possible. After 7 business days or so of waiting for him to call me back I decided to call him. He said that they had found a boot to send me and would be sent out right away; glad to get some answers and boots I my anger subsided.
Another month went buy with me thinking that the boots were on their way and would get to my house (now about the middle of November). Many of the mountains on the east had started to open and al my friends went skiing while I sat waiting for my boots. I called untracked again and they said they haven't received the boots and had not heard anything about the boots. Furious that I had been lied to by some guy in customer service how didn't feel like dealing with me I called up Salomon again. I started to talk to some annoying girl on the phone that didn't want to do anything to help me, after yelling at her over the phone I asked to be transferred to someone who could help me. It’s the end November and I still have nothing.
I am put on hold and finally a calm relaxed voice comes on the line. The guy introduces himself as Nick and I decide to tell him my entire story and how the only thing I want are my boots so that I can ski. His reaction to the story is "that’s fucked up, we gotta fix this quick".
He searches through Salomons inventory and the only thing he can find in my size are the kreation, which is a step down from my boot. I really didn't want to get that boot so I tried asking again if we could do store credit. That didn't work out either, so we didn't know what to do. For a couple days we swap phone call trying to figure out what to do, most of the time he calls me. One day during the first week of December Nick calls me super stoked because he searched through last years boots and was able to find the spk pro model in my size and wanted to know if that would work, of course I said yes. I could not have been anymore happy. We worked it out so that the boots didn't have to go to untracke.com then to me. Nick went out during his lunch break that day and shipped my boots express. The next day I get a call from Nick during school to check in with me because he was notified that my boots had arrived. The rest of the day in school I was so anxious to get home to my new boots. When I got home not only did I get a box with my boots but an entire different box that Nick had sent with lots of various goodies.
DEM SPARK NOTES
I sent my spk boots into get warrentied and it took a total of about 3 months because lazy people in Salomons customer service didn't want to waste their time, helping a kid get some boots to ski on. When I finally got in contact with my boy Nick in customer service (the only person who really seamed to care) he took it as his goal to get me some boots as fast as possible. Nick went above and beyond working long and hard, searching high and low for a boot that would work for me. It took him a week to get boots to me and he sent me a ton of free stuff to apologize for the others who didn't help me. THANKs NICK much love bud.
