I'm a Blue Mountain weekend warrior, I've been up several times this year already. All brown with 08/09 invaders either riding park or riping it up on the sides of Lazy Mile. Oh if any of you work for the Blue Park crew, you're doing an amazing job this year!
Since we're discussing Blue Mt here. This is what i'd love to see for the rebuild:
The 3 jump line needs to be stepovers. Not all jumps need to be, but those are small-mid size jumps in a compact space and stepovers allow for optimal airtime and length of landing in a small space.
The BIG jump is in a pretty awful spot, but if we're really committed to having one there then we've gotta find another place for that hip (which is fun for hand drags and butter/stalls) because too many people are stopping right below that landing and making a very unsafe zone there.
The minipark is a 100% improvement over previous years so I'd say just keep up the good work and maintenance.
I'd also love to see a small-jib corner right where that trapezoidal cone box used to be (in the bend before the big jump). It's out of the way and just a perfect spot to go hike and have fun on some little stuff.
All in all I'd say Park Crew is setting up some nice stock stuff and getting creative with what they have. Keep it up dudes. I can't wait to see the new setup this weekend.
Team Potassium!
I was at jfbb this week and didn't get up to blue. I'm stoked over the rebuild of sidewinder though. i thought last year's set up was ok but i do thiink they need much better jumps with a bit more air time.
But Yeah i'll be there this weekend. I'll be rocking an orange COC jacket and blue pants.
Park Crew the 3 jump line should definately be stepovers (true tables) these gaps jumps are cool if you want to be 20 feet in the air instantly. You don't need to be that high to pull off quality tricks you just need enough time in the air. Go watch the Gap Session by Blank Paper Productions, it's a snowboard flick by the same dudes who made Lame and Afterlame; then you will understand why gap jumps are stupid and dangerous. Also, Gap jumps allow gapers to sneak in and ski under jumps and you then see them while you're in mid air.
Oh VIP line is the best thing that happend to Blue!
I'm on the Anthems, my buddy motherships82 is on the invaders and the other two dudes aren't on here. We're weekend warriors so you're likely to see us most saturdays and sundays.
I think Blue does have a bit of a scene, but its tough to pick people out in the chaotic overcrowding that is Blue on a weekend.
Yesterday I tried to ollie the rope instead of climbing up those damn stairs, my one ski made it but my other one got all kinds of hung up. So I'd like to take credit for the wall of ice chunks that park crew built to keep dopes like me from trying.
