Hard drives are kinda sketchy since they have moving parts, the footage can get fucked up. I and many others would recommend you sick with tapes unless you're looking at a solid state memory system.
Truth...HDV is deffanatly better, if your not a rere then taping over stuff shouldnt be a problem, just dont rewind to watch footage when your out doing something, then when you get home import and your done, put the tape on a back shelf for a hard copy and your good. I dont really trust any of the new recording states (probably just because they are new and different and im scared of change) other than the p2 cards but dropping over 500 on 45 minutes worth of memory isnt in the budget
i haven't heard one good thing about HDD...mini dv FTW...i mean its been used for a while and people seem to have caught on. GET ON THE BAND WAGON. only Hard drive i would record to is p2 cards...but unless you are ready to drop mad bank not a good idea to go that route. Mini DV!
