i want a set of those but they're kind of expensive.  HO Sports makes some that are about 700 bucks with bindings...i haven't been able to talk myself into that one yet...

you can't call it wakeskiing just because it involves tricks. There have been tricks in water skiing for many decades.

i didnt think of that name for it, the actual inventors of the sport did. thanks i water ski, and i know tricks have been in it before, but these people decided to make ti their own, and they called it wakeski. if you have a prob with the name, go talk to whoever thought of the name.

Honestly.  I hate hating on nomenclature, but. . .

that was fucking waterskiing.

It was sick as shit, I thought it was sweet.  but why give something a new name when it is the same thing as something else.  it takes something away from the original people who pioneered where you are in a sport.  It's fucking waterskiing.  You are hitting/jumping the wake.  you are not the first ones, you will not be the last. 


though, I am just expressing myself.  I think that riding on the snow in general should be considered skiing.  skiing in general sounds way more badass to me.  snowboarding sounds funny.  its just an ugly word to say.  skiing sounds better, reguardless of what kind of plankish object you are riding.  like when someone sais "snowboard pants".  it just sounds annoying.  I catch myself saying it sometimes, but to me, its worste than 'hella'.

it looked like not that much fun just riding behind a boat... but the wakeboard park with the pulley system looked so siiiick! sliding shit looked pretty easy and you can do the illusive 180 to pretzel 180 in the air.

Now that this thread was bumped.

It would be cool if they could find a way to make a harder boot for this kind of water skiing. Maybe a similar system to snowskiing with  bindings that release. Some kind of hard snowboard boot maybe. Without a harder boots it's hard to control water skis when trying stuff like that. But if the boot was too hard and a standard settup, you could really fuck your knees up in a fall. Some lighter weight skis especially at the tips could help too. Just a thought but I think it could be doable.

I snowboard and wakeboard but I'm just trying to think of ways to make water skis work.

its actually pretty fun i did it a few times at my local cable park. there fun as hell to hit boxes and jumps on. takes a little getting used to and riding switch is weird having to hold on to a handle and all

I know exactly what he is talking about (for once)

Water skis have no ankle support and I always feel like I am going to fall forwards or backwards. For this reason wake skiing sucks, it is really nothing like snow skiing in my opinion. But if you could make a double release binding system, like one for the toe and one for the heal and wear boots it would be a lot better.

It will never be like snow skiing dude. You are being pulled instead of being pushed. The reason you feel like you are going to fall forward or backward has to do with your form as opposed to the equipment. (not trying to hate) It's all in the back on water skis. Knees bent - back straight. I could slap you in a set of Wiley freestyle jump bindings that are solid as fuck and you'd have the same problem. No need to reinvent the wheel on this one.
