How much damage does slidding concrete ledges do?
Doesnt it completely grind through the edges?

Think about it... Ever skied onto concrete accidentally? It messes up your bases in a hurry. Wax will help(and you better wax) but expect damage. Lots of it.

how much damage? does anyone have pictures of skis after they've done a concrete ledge? also how much damage do rails do?

Rails won't fuck your skis up too bad...you just need to hit them right. Of course, any rail will do a little bit of damage...after awhile, you'll notice.

How badly does it mess up the edges? does it dull them real bad? does it effect carving much?

think about how much damage grinding steel does...now multiply that many times over and u have ur damage factor

if you care about your edges or bases at all, don't grind concrete. if you do concrete, expect to thoroughly fuck up your edges, and more than likely loses some edge

Totally depends on the smoothness, and slickness. But it will do damgage, it catched easier then rails do. Good rails don't do damge, they do dull your edges but that can be fixed.
IF you wanta keep your skis mint, keep to the rails and avoid kinks and dull rails.

yeah, and detune the edges! it makes rails slide so nice, and it is actually helps protect the ski. my 1260s are literally round between the bindings. as far as ledges, get a shitty pair of beat up skis off ebay with bindings. set um up, and go. and dont worry about bases, those can be fixed.
