Did i get fucked by the ski shop?

I got new skis this season but ive only gotten to go skiing once so far. Today, my friend set up some rails and invited me over. we were hittin the rails and i wrecked. i got up and tried to put the skis back on, and found out that the bindings were all fucked up. one of the back bindings was only attached by two screws and the other was coming out. i was pissed that my new skis were already wrecked, so i went home and looked at them with my dad. OK i really dont know anything about bindings and stuff so keep it calm. under the bindings, two of the screws were drilled right into the skis, the other two were drilled into plastic things in the skis, those plastic things are why the bindings came out. what i was wondering is, is this normal or can i blame the place that did the mounting?

If you only used them once and theyre pullin out and they only used 2 screws then you def got shafted man. Go back and give them hell!!

they used 4 screws but only two were screwed into the actual ski, two were screwed into rubber things

Id go talk to the ski shop as soon as possible. as long as its not bothell ski and bike i am sure they will work with you. that isn't supposed to happen

are the rubber things in the ski?  if so they are some form of heli-coil.  The shop probably fucked up your mount and striped out the ski, thus using a heli-coil to fix it.  It sounds like they did a crappy job, plastic heli-coils are worthless IMO.

You were screwed, they should have had drilled 4 holes.  Also, honestly, 2 solid screws should hold in your binding pretty well if they did everything right and used the right drill.  My binding broke a few years ago and I just drilled a new one with 2 screws and never had a problem.  Take your skis back and demand to speak to a manager and for them to give you new skis.  ( Don't tell them you were doing rails )

if by plastic things you mean risers, those shouldnt even be on twin tips any ways.  and yea shit shouldnt break a day into the season go into the store, explain what happened, and if they arent real dicks or a racing store they should do something for you.

sorry for the crappy pic, i took it on my cell on the bottom of my ski are the correct drill holes, above it is one plastic thing and the hole where the other plastic thing was. the other plastic thing is still on my bindings

yea they forgot to screw the rear screws in you can tell by the drill holes, def go back and have them fix it or reimburse and go to another shop.

I'd push all out for new skis! They cant keep re drillin skis cause it weakens them. Just tell them you wanted them mounted exactly where they are and that the job they made was a joke!

for sure go give them hell and demand new skis. when a shop fucks up a mount they need to tell you and give you new skis. find a new shop

ahahahahahah jesus christ, that is a terrible mounting job, I cannot believe they are in business doing terrible jobs like that. They should have told you they screwed up, becuase they most definently did.

Yeah some rookie fucked up when he was mounting your setup, he drilled in the wrong holes of the jig and then plugged them it looks  like and on the top to holes it looks like he had to put helis in because he probably torqued on them to hard when we was tightening the screws and he used plastic helis, always use metal.  Go back and tell them they ruined a perfectly good pair of skis and that next time they screw up the mount job to tell you.  They should give you another pair.

i dont want to beat a dead horse, but that's a royal fuckup of a mount job. since they didn't disclose their fuckup (like they would), that's even worse.
That should be new ski worthy, since, as mentioned, you got the missdrill and the shitty helicoil.

I don't think it matters how many screws they used, if it came of on your first use, then I think thats a mounting fault, therefore you have lazy kids working your ski shop.

Well, this really pisses me off! I have worked in ski shops for a long long time, and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that THEY FUCKED UP YOUR SKIS! Do not settle for anything less than brand new skis. Do not let them get away with anything less than full compensation of the total amount of your skis. They striped out the holes they drilled and tried to fix it, and here is the infuriating part, they did not have the common decencey to tell you about it...pretty low. You should ask to talk to the guy responsible for fucking up your skis and ask him how he would feel if you had gotten hurt, paralyzed, or killed due to his negligence. You have done nothing wrong and you deserve to be FULLY reembersed. I'm sure my spelling sucks, but you get the point.

I've also worked in a shop for a while and have been mounting skis for 5 years.  They straight fucked up the mounting job and technically what they did is very illegal. 

1.) you should not have ripped out of the ski
2.) there shouldn't be any more holes than there are screws
3.) there should not be heli coils on a brand new ski, if there is, then they stripped holes on the first attempt of mounting.
4.) mounting incorrectly, then remounting, plus heli coils is a lawsuit waiting to happen and you my friend would definetly win that lawsuit


I wouldn't take it that far if you aren't seriously hurt or anything but I would DEMAND a new set of skis for sure.

P.S. heli coils are useless especially if you're a jibber, you're better off with a remount anyway

i don't want to sound like an asshole but i cant imagine what kind of lawsuit/ compensation you could've gotten if you got hurt.. a guy at the dealership i work at got 36 grand because he slipped and fell on the ice at work...but it is a good thing you didn't get hurt becaus of the dumb ass guys who messed up your skis

deffinately should get new skis from them tho.. thats bullshit. gutless douschbags didnt even tell u about it

that should not have happened. i used to work at a shop....there were not alot of screw ups, but it happens, people mess up, but the shop owner would always tell the client and offer to make it better, instead of try to cover it up. what gets me about your situation is that you could have really gotten hurt because they had a tech that screwed up and tried to cover it up.

if i were you i would walk in and ask to talk to the manager on, or owner if it is a small shop. explain what happened, it was your second time and then this happened and show them. if they know anything they should offer to do anything to make it better. if they don't tell them you want new skis and if they don't you always can say i could sue you for endangering my life, what if that had happened while you were skiing and you hit a tree head on and died? you bet your fam would sue them for wrongful death. just saying. or have your mom or dad go and yell at them...my mom is awesome about yelling at people who endanger my life!

yeah man go back to the shop and make sure you emphasize how dangerous it was that they gave you your skis like that. When a ski shop is putting someone in serious harm (like they did with you) they better give you new shit. if they're being assholes about it threaten to sue. thats really unethical business practices, maybe even illegal.

if you indeed were "fucked" by the ski shop a quick blood check of the anus would do the trick, or if you are still worried about somehow getting pregnant there are a plethora of emergency contraceptives available on the market. Best wishes

Ahhhh I love yelling at people when they screw up like this. I wish you could give them to me and I could go in and argue until they give new skis. Ahhh I don't know why but I love it. Maybe because I've been on the other side and I know how easy it is to not screw up, and that the managers will always give in if you argue long enough.

no kidding i know one of the shop owners in my hometown and i know that kind of work would absolutely not be tolerated in his shop, and for sure at none of the bigger ones.

5 bucks says some kid was working the shop and he was a noob and made the mistake and didn't wanna tell his boss.

once when i got a pair of skis, they screwed on the bindings to big to fit the boot, then whey they fixed it they gave me a new pair of skis but the size was smaller then before and then they fixed the size and bindings
