Flag for inappropriate content

I think that there needs to be some symbol or flag added to the title of threads with inappropriate content (porn/drugs/racism), etc...

I'm not trying to be anal, quite the contrary.  It's just that I like to go on NS when I'm bored at work, and sometimes I click on threads because they have innocent titles, and then their content is stuff that could get me fired.

I'm allowed to browse the internet at work, so please don't tell me that "maybe you just shouldnt go on NS at work you slacker"-- its just that if they check my internet history, and I happened to have clicked on a thread about porn, I'm going to get in trouble or get fired.  But sometimes, I do it because the thread title doesn't have any warning.

I doubt that I'm the only other person in this boat.  it would help for the youngsters when their parents are in the room too.

sounds like a good idea, however.... who would determine what is inappropriate and what is not? If it is the thread creator one could not feel that their thread is bad but many other people could. If we left it to the mods i think that would be way too much work to screen every thread that is made

just somethings to think about

thats why theres a flag. they wouldnt screen every thread, just the threads someone has flagged

One assumes that in order for this to work, someone would have to click on a thing that would put a flag on the thread. So it would be just as easy to click a green name and send a PM so we can delete the offending post / thread.

my only advice would be to stay out of non-ski gabber. just browse SG, pics, vids, some cults, read some team updates, etc!

theres plenty more to this site than the debauchery of NSG.

oh god its not that hard

anyone can flag the thread. which mean a little notice shows up on the mods screen that says go check this thread tis been flagged. then they determine if its innapropriate or not.

Well tha only thing that could help would be if you know it could potentially get bad then people should put "NSFW" at the beginning of tha title.

well, no, a lot of the threads I'm referring to are ones that wouldn't be ordinarily deleted-- But they might be inappropriate at work, like threads about smoking weed, that have a title unrelated to smoking weed, for instance. Should be flagged, so I don't open it at work, but shouldn't necessarily be deleted.

yeah, probably half, but i think what people are misunderstanding is that i don't mean "flagged" for removal.  I mean like literally, a little picture of a flag next to the title or something.

Perhaps it could be a box to check when you make a thread.  Like when you make a new thread, there could be a drop down of things to pick from like "flag for sex" "flag for weed"...etc...and then next to the title of the thread in the forums, it would have a corresponding flag color, like green flag=weed thread...etc.

no offense, but if your internet supervisors at work were going through your history, and they found NS< and they found that you clicked on the forums, and they went to see any of the forums pages, and saw a bunch of little flags (beside quite a few of the threads) that represented sexual content or narcotic content, i don't think it would matter which threads you had actually clicked on.

i worked a desk job in nyc this summer and i had a problem like that, i'd click on a random harmless thread and then all of a sudden there would be some disgusting/crude pics and if someone saw they would probably fire me very quickly

id say stay off ns while at work then ahah, I can just imagine someone opening a thread with a title like "SNuggle Bunny" and the contents are pictures of the holocaust and what not.......and your boss is over your chair lol

i think thats a good idea, but it should up to us, the ns members to flag it.
there could be a button in the corner of a thread that you can click on if you feel a certain threads content offensive. and once a certain number of people click the button ( lets say ten ) they the thread title will show a flagged icon in the fourm listing. thus eliminating the possibilirty of one or two people flaging it just for jokes, if 10 people find it offensive or nsfw, then it must be - and should be flagged

Its all subjective.  NS does not consist of internet babysitters.  There is an inherent risk in that by browsing the internet at work, you will run into some questionable content.

i agree. its not like if you flagged it people still couldnt look at it. it would just be at your own risk.

im sick of seeing naked chicks on NS were people have taking the pictures off these girls myspaces or something
1. thats so wrong and you could get in soo much shit.
2. this is a ski sight, not a porn sight-go look at porn on your own time instead of putting that shit on here.
   this is not a "males only" websight and it shows me a whole lot of disrepect to women from alot of you   guys

i dont think you get it. if there is a red flag next to a thread, and that red flag means that the thread contains porn pictures- then i could avoid clicking on the thread, and there wouldnt be porn pictures on my internet history at work- which is what they look for.

where are these naked chicks? If its the scene girls thread, then just don't look at it. I'm pretty sure no one would care if you made a scene guys thread or something. Though I've gotta agree with ya that the scene girls thread is pretty sketchy, The majority of those girls have to be about 15 or 16.

But at the end of the day, if you don't want to be offended, don't go open a thread that you might not like the look of. People have to remember also that what offends one person may be perfectly acceptable to another.

I think the big misunderstanding that's going on right now is that we haven't made it clear that getting snobunny fired is one of the major reasons this site is here. So no, there won't be any flags for inappropriate content, that would remove one of the (but not the only) main avenues we have to achieve that goal.

Ideally, it would be nice if people did put NSFW in their titles when they were posting sketchy stuff, but overall, it's the risk you take rolling into NSG while at work.

this discussion has come up many times in many forms over the years, and what nobody seems to realize is that you choose to log onto ns.com, and you can choose not to.

censorship of threads, even if it is just a flag that someone puts on, is flat out ridiculous, and should have no place on a site like this.

while the site does have certain standards about decency, they are minimal and you agree to them when you sign up. apart from that, (which some may even see as too much censorship) everything you do on this site, and the internet in general, is voluntary.

if you aren't sure if a therad is work safe, dont click on it. if you think someone may trick you with a thread title, stay off the forums. if you don't like how the site is set up to regulate content, leave. the whole of ns.com should not have to bend to the whims of each and every person's individual interweb surfing needs.
