DVX or HMC150

i am leaning over to the dvx...seen greate footage of it...but will it be still be good in a few years? is stepping from a gl2 to a dvx a smart move or should i go for hd?

ye but how do my computer handle it? will it go like reeeaally slow or just a little?

If your planing on shooting a full length movie, I would go with the HMC150. If not HD isn't really necessary.

ye i really want the hmc150 but the only thing holding me back is my computer speed....is not that slow but i heard avchd is kind of hard...and i dont wanna buy it and then i cant do shit cause its slow...like i said..i will upgrade but not at the time...

If you have a somewhat new and ok computer, you'll be fine. People hype up so hard that HD makes your computer run slow, which isn't even that true. It's just a bigger file. You will be ok. As for avchd, i hate that shit. You'd be better off with an fx1 or fx7. But its up to you.

The HMC150 is a sick camera.  AVCHD isn't a bad format by any means.  Go for the 150, it will be a better long term investment.

I think its arguable that HDV is better quality than avchd.

AVCHD is phasing out HDV and is going to become the next popular mass format.  The footage coming from the 150 is killer.  You can argue that HDV is still better, it's all personal opinion really.  I'd say go for the 150.  It's the only camera in its price range at the moment that offers what it does.  I don't know much about the avc workflow, so maybe CharlesB can chime in, he has a 150.

This is my opinion after watching loads of 150 footage, it stacks up incredibly well to the HPX170/HVX200, and unless you know where to look for the differences, it's impossible to tell that they are different cameras.  Give a DVX100 to a talented filmmaker, and a 150 to a hack, and the 150 wont stand a chance, and vice versa.  What it comes down to is your ability as a filmmaker to do good work.  The camera is just a tool to help you along the way.  If you don't think you need HD capabilities, the DVX100 is a very solid camera and is more than good for web videos, I'd say it's the best standrd def cam of its time.  You can get used 100's for dirt cheap also.  But, if you're really set on shooting in HD, then go for the 150.  It may be more camera than you really need though, which is something to consider.
