Right now I have Salomon S912 bindings on my 174 Foils. They're decent, but one brake comes off when they release. I also have old Rossi Axium 110s, which are in pretty good shape.

So, my question is this: I can't afford to buy new boots and new bindings this year so I have to choose. I have Nordica Speedmachine 8 boots right now, which are dec, but I'd love a freestyle boot.

In your opinion, is it more important to have a freestyle specific boot, or a freestyle specific binding?
i.e. I could either have non-freestyle boots and Marker Jesters, or could have non-free style bindings and have SPKs...what would you suggest?

Any opinions/ advice would be much appreciated

boots are the most important part of a setup, although I have no room to talk because my budget forced me to buy $30 salomon boots that fit well and flex nice but aren't great by any means. As long as a binding is reliable and has a safe retention setting then I consider it as good as any other binding..

get good boots.
search around for bindings.
they are a couple good freestyle bindings in teh BUY/SELL forum.
boots are essential though.

Well how are the boots you have now?  Are they decent or just too stiff?

Not too stiff, life 85 maybe? Theyre decent, but not great.
Is there a big difference in freestyle specific boots? Or am i just paying for looks?

eh, there is a difference. It most likely will not affect your performance at all, but it's like buying an Aston Martin or an Acura... both good cars, both get you from point A to point B, but the acura doesn't have the bells and whistles, comfort and "look at me" factor.. Maybe a bad analogy, but whatever haha.

Point is, freestyle boots are designed for what we do, others will still get the job done perfectly fine..

Speedmachine 8's are super soft anyway - if the boot fits..
