Hills without ski locks

alright so i was reading the thread about peoples stuff getting stolen at mount snow. It made me think about theft on the mountain and stuff. Back at Blue Mountain, Ontario (where I grew up) there were ski lock racks everywhere... I think they outnumbered the non lock racks 3 to 1. With special racks for boarders to lock up their shit as well.

Hell. One time I was hanging out at the Inn at Blue and saw some ski cops chase down, tackle and zip tie his hands togeather (I guess they didn't have hand cuffs on them at the time?) 'cause he stole a purse from a chick at the hill.

Anyways - my point is: I now reside in Rossland, BC and the hill here (Red Mountain) doesn't even have ski locks. Not one of our ski racks allows you to lock up your stuff. The retail shop at the hill (or any of the shops in town for that matter) doesn't sell them... The interesting thing though is that in my 4 years in this town I've heard of only one board being stolen from the hill. It was during the american long weekend so some punk from Spokane (we're assuming) came up and wanted to be cool, or something....

So, what other ski hills out there don't have ski locks and out of those hills, are there issues with theft?

theres not anything you can loop a lock around, what about bringing skis into the lodge.

well sure, if you have one of those cord locks (like bike style) you could lock your skis to the rack... but i'm talking the ones designed for the ski locks. ya know?

a few people have said they want mike hunt... but i wanna see york hunt. eh, eh?

stowe dosnt have a single ski lock rack and that place is big and expensive, I figure I pay the same price I would pay to go to whistler for this mountain which is shit next to wiss, I at least want to come back with my skiis! I am not Stowe ked

Im pretty sure Brighton has some ski locks, but I have not once thought about using them. I always just lean my skis up against the lodge, in plain view. I don't think I have ever heard of anyones gear ever being stolen up there.

My mountain has ski locks but no one really uses them because there is a free ski check (locks cost money). But this weekend was demo weekend and 2 demo boards were stolen

my mountain has a complementary ski check, but you should just bring your skis inside.  the signs that say no skis inside are for when skis were +200cm

In montana i never heard of anyone getting their shit stolen, everyone is super chill and hippy! my one buddy from Minnesota came out and he locked his board up and the lock broke and it was the funniest thing ever. he had to find an employee with a lock cutters and they gave him hella shit about locking it up! "Were pretty trusting out here" is what he told him as he cut apart his $30 lock

Just separate your skis and put them next to skis alot better then yours, its worked for me for a long time

Small local hills don't have locks, and we don't need them. If somebody steals your skis you'd know before the end of the day who it was.

i was at mt snow the day everyone's shit got stolen, i was super pissed off especially cuz my friend got HIS board jacked

never heard of anything get stolen though. and from toronto only a certain number of people go, its a 2 hour drive, so i only go cuz i have a season pass, and cuz my friends live near there. as a matter of fact no hill near me has locks, never heard of stolen equipment though.

when i was still back in ontario Snow Valley (just outside of Barrie) was bad for theft. I hung out with some fucktards at the time and once one of my buddies stole a snowboard from Snow Valley. I kicked him really hard a couple times and stole the board from him and returned it to the hill...
