im sure it is easy to weld, but not everybody has acess to a welder, just like myself. if you make it out of wood just paint it really well with rustoleum and youll be fine.

yea im gonna build a rail too. im thinking of using a welder though...hmm i dont know much else about how to make one without, oh well. Ride on man, and good luck with your rail.

$10 an hour is pretty cheap. Just get an ARC welder and go to work. Don't wear a mask/helmet cause they are for pussies. Good luck ;)
