Small problem with my toepiece...(?)

Hey guys, I'm thinking I might have a small problem with my bindings and the DIN-values. One toepiece says that it had a DIN-value of 6, the other one shows a DIN-value of 8, I was a bit worried about this but my dad said it was just an indication and I shouldn't worry about it. The bindings are Salomon S914's and are bought and mounted yesterday.

go back to ur shop and ask them.

they should obviously be the same and were not mounted properly.

the mount itself might be fine but the adjustment to the bindings is for sure not so take them back.

just put your boot in one and change the din so it's equal to the other, put your boot in the binding that says 8 and change the din back to 6, they shouldn't be at different settings

They can be at two different settings, but a 2 din difference is not right.  Usually the difference is due to the din differential, but if the differential is that high, the binding is in big trouble to begin with.

What about when a tech sets release values in the normal fashion? There isn't any reason for toe/heel to have different values is there?

I ride with a 9.5 in the toe, and 11 in the heel.  I get the side release i want, and i can do nose presses and butters without blowing out.  It is not uncommon. 

I thought we were talking about his toes being set at 6 and 9

true. I just re-read it

I get toe/heel being set differently, but i can't see why/how any tech could justify setting left and right skis at different values

Sometimes one of the toes wont release at the proper value and needs to be adjusted to do so.  Its pretty common practice on older bindings, but new ones are pretty consistent.  Thats why i said this scenario was unlikely.  If an adjustment has to be made, its usually around .05-1 at the most.  a 2 difference, there is something wrong or the tech fucked up.
