Advice for beginner

I'm really interested in learning some tricks, but have never done any of it. I'm an intermediate skier, have been skiing for more than 10 years, mostly just recreational. I don't have any equipment at the moment, but would like to get something I can use for learning some freestyle/NS stuff and also for regular downhill skiing. I live in Boulder CO and have a pass for Copper and Winter Park. Any advice on equipment or how/where I can best learn some stuff would be much appreciated.

Advice on Freestyle:Start small on boxes and smaller jumps, work your way up to bigger stuff.
Advice on "NS Stuff":You can't get to chad's gap from Alta because ski patrol blew it up.

welcome to NS! basically, you can learn a lot of tricks and such by just skiing with the local freeskiers at your hill. just have fun with it, you'll learn.

to get gear i would recommend going to your local ski shop and asking for what you want AFTER reading reviews on websites. i would definitely recommend the K2 Silencers or Public Enemys. good to learn on, real durable and definitely gonna take you everywhere you wanna go on the mountain.

try to find one of those parks with the boxes and rails 1 inch off the ground, that will help you get the feel of them with out getting hurt

For learning tricks, best thing to do is ride with people that are better than you. If you don't have that option, just go into the park and watch people ride. Check the trick-tips section on ns. Watch ski movies. When you're out there, just start small and work your way up. It takes time to get to a level that you'll be satisfied with, but in the meantime just ski as much as you can! And have fun with it!

tricks are 80% commitment. remember this. if you convince yourself you will successfully complete a trick, you will. so try and sack up before you do anything. afterbang everything.

just picture yourself doing the trick and then pump up the music to get pumped and then without thinking just do it then afterbang the shit out of it to show everyone your the boss

i've been learning by riding with a few people (a skier and a few boarders) and listening to their advice. its really hard judge speed need for jumps with out watching others or listening to them.

as long as you respect everyone in the park. they will gladly help you. also, try to find some guys to ski with, preferably better than you. you'll progress 5 times faster.

Just start small. First learn to pop. It is necessary for almost everything.Just do some small jumps and learn to stay level and in control in the air and then do some grabs and spins and your good to go.

Remember number one goal: Have Fun
theres times to try relle hard to get better (progression), Be relle cocky cuz u think ur good, and try to ski relle styleish but if somthin doesnt work out for one some days like u cant like a trick and u get pissed off just remember to have fun cuz they say practice makes perfect and if u have fun and do it a lot ur guarenteed to get good. ^^^ all great advice

i would also say spend a lot of time on trampolines and diving boards as well just to get air sense
i personally jump and spin or flip off of everything i see
and tramp and dive a lot
it helps everything from 360s to kangaroo flips
