So, i got a couple of 179 k2 kung fujas very cheap used 2 times from a friend. And im like 5'6". i know they will be way to long for park but could i still do big mountain and trees?
you guys have to remember that ski length is more associated with your weight! obviously height is taken into account because of leverage, but what is leverage without enough force/power to lever it?
anyways, I am 5'10.5" and around 135, yeah I'm a twig, and I ski 177 chronics. my legs are strong because I'm athletic and rollerblade, but the stiffness of the chronics makes it a bit hard to pop, so the sense that I've made of it all is that the lighter you are, the shorter and POSSIBLY softer you want your skis, and the heavier you are, the more you are able to control stiffer, longer skis..
I'm 5'8" and I ski 181's, they're center mounted though. I just bought a pair of 186 Prophet 100's too. Long skis are always better, it's a little weird at first but it makes your landings so much more stable.
ya man, your golden. if that was a stiff ski, you might run into some problems, but they are soft enough they wont be a prob. youll like a longer ski too, makes you ride more arressively, and longer skis are WAYYYY better off jumps, more pop, more landing area, and ALOT faster.
First off those are not too long for park whatsoever. I am 5'3 and ski 173's for park and I love that size, just tough to rail dance as easy. Secondly you will be fine for skiing anything on skis those size.
It really depends on your ability, by height and weight they are a bit too big, but if you are a very advanced rider then they will have some benefits to offer. If they are center mounted then they will ski a bit shorter. A lot of people use a longer ski for jumps for stability but would struggle to turn it outside the park.
i am 5'10" 140 on a good day an i have 181 chronics. i thought they were going to be big, but they are so nice. your height and weight do matter, but if you are an experienced skier, you will be able to ski a longer ski. this season will be my 14th season skiing, so i feel confident on any ski
