under a grand, nikon d70, canon 30d, hasselblad 500cm (mf film)

over a grand, canon 40d, 50d, nikon d200, d300, d2 series, d3, canon 1d mark 2n, 5d, any 4x5 format mono rail view camera

i like my d40

as for video cams, ive heard that hv30s are the best under 1000, im thinkin of buying one

ya, i think thats the general consensus on ns, im hettin my hv30 in 2 days!

Consumer camcorder:HD - HV30 SD - panasonic dvc30
Prosumer camcorder: HD - Depends on how much you wanna spend less than 3000 get a sony fx1/fx7 or panasonic hmc if you want to spend more than 3000 get a sony fx1000,canon xha1, or panasonic hvx/hpx. SD - panasonic dvx or canon xl1/xl2
DSLRs < $1000: canon rebel xsi or nikon d40-d80 ( i think is under 1000)
DSLRs > $1000: Nikon d90-d200 or canon 40d-5d.
