Step 1) Go to doctor

Step 2) Say you can't focus and have a hard time getting your work done

Step 3) Be sure you dress decently and present yourself as a together kid

Step 4) Get prescription for greatest invention of mankind to date: ADDERALL! YAY!


If you haven't taken adderall, imagine drinking really strong coffee, but having it last for hours. Coffee generally makes people jittery but adderall doesn't. At worst it may raise your heart rate a little.

Basically it makes you feel like you're the shit. It makes you want to get all your work done...and actually do it, makes you happier, makes you wayy more productive/faster at doing work, increases confidence, increases talkitive instincts (decreases inhibitions), and as long as you manage when you will come down off it (6hrs generally for the generic) then you can completely manage your sleep patterns. It won't necessarily make you "smarter" but it will make you be on top of your game. In general it just makes you feel like a boss.

Sadly it has recieved a lot of criticism. Some kids take it to party which can be dangerous. Some kids snort it which is stupid. If you are responsible then you really won't become hooked on it or "need" it to get through the day. Some people frown on taking it if you aren't diagnosed with ADD. Guess what, when they decide you have ADD they base it on how you respond to adderall. If it helps you get shit done then you must have had ADD. Clearly it will help everyone get shit done so therefore we must all have ADD.

To those who think that taking adderall for school is somehow cheating: it doesn't magically make you smarter. The only thing it does is allows you to study and get things done in the way you imagine you can but always get distracted/lose focus from.

Adderall saved me this quarter during finals. Thank you adderall gods. I know this has been discussed a bit so please don't searchbar me. This is just an urge to everyone on NS to at least try it. I guarantee it will help you.

dude, alonge with all things in this world if you dont over do it it is harmless, i had some yester day and i got a huge part of my project done and i got most or my home work caught up in just one day... it has helped me immensly.. and it is amaizing for studying you can cram like no other

Apparently it also leads to motivation problems after you've been on it for awhile and then stop (i.e. dependency). I don't recommend abusing this prescription drug.

The other night my girlfriend and I were left this fucked up after hours party at around 4 and being drunk and starving we were waiting in line for a hotdog from a vendor outside the place. This man conspicuously shuffles up to us and asks several times if we want any "dexie" to which my drunken girlfriend replys "taxi? no thanks sir, we already have a ride." I thought it was hilarious.

i was on adderall but i got pulled off of it because it made me lose 18 lbs in like 2 or 3 weeks and i was 5'6" 134 when i was on it and i pretty much lashed out on everyone and had urges of murdering anyone that was obnoxious when i was usually the loud kid in class distracting everyone else around me

makes me eat less, but im a bigger kid and my weight has leveled out at about 170, so im good

it definitely makes me lash out and kinda get arguementative, but my grades don't lie, it works very well. i mean i wouldnt take it if i didnt have to cuz it does mess me up, but what ever, gotta sacrifice.

I've been diagnosed with ADHD. I have this thing called will power though so I just deal with not being able to concentrate on things very much.

yeah adderall didn't do much for me. I took 100 mg and I got super talkative, my confidence boosted, i was more awared of everything going on, i was for sure on top of everything except for my school work. it made me pay more attention to everything. it was for sure nice but i noticed no difference in school work i was still lazy with studying when i was on it. instead of studying i wrote a long ass essay on the problems of the world haha which was for my own enjoyment

back in the 3rd grade my teachers all called my parents to a meeting and said i should go to the doctor because i was showing signs off ADD. We'll my parents took me to the doctor and he diagnosed me with ADD. My parents refused the doctors and the teachers. Thank god they did. I admit I really struggled with school in elementry and into middle school. My entire family taught me will power. It was extreamly hard. school was extreamly hard. But after a couple of years of struggle i got into highschool and was able to apply myself because i was taught will power and motivation. I graduated highschool with a 3.7.m I thank god that i had parents that didn't take the easy way out. They pushed me and pushed me until i finally learned. You can do it if you apply your self and work hard

I took that shit for about 2 years for school which really helped, went from failing my classes to being first of my class.
   At first, all of this was all magical and shit. Me was getting awesome marks, training like a mofocker.
when i restarted the other year, i started getting paranoid attacks and shit and problems to sleep. The shit made me nervous as fuck.

I went from a 68 average to a 88!!!

yeah i was tweaking out for 2 days straight. i didnt sleep for 40 hours and it kills your appetite so i was awake for 40 hours running on a sandwhich and two croissants for two days. thats all i ate

yes i know what you feel . this shit is basically like coke. its the same effect just not as addictive because the effect doesnt wear off in 30 minutes.

you realize that all the bad side effects come along with the sense of 'euphoria' which would mean that you think you're feeling good even though the rest of your body is going through crap... boiling it down to positive reinforcement for negative bodily consequences... but sure you can make the argument that euphoria is a good thing ignoring however fleeting a feeling it may be

Matty, will power is hard to come by for some. I have never had a harder time focusing on studying and I try VERY hard. What's so bad about a drug that gives you a push in the right direction?

i took one the other day so i could finish 4 drawings i had due for my final design presentation the next day. What normally would have taken me about 2 hours+ for one drawing, I got 2 done in less than 3 hours. It really does work, as long as you focus on what you need to focus on. If you take it and then go on facebook or NS, well you'll focus on that for 8 hours instead of doing what you planned on taking it for. The only downside was I was up until 6am. Oh well

that high impact, shin splint inducing, arthritis begging, ankle spraining, activity, most commonly found sharing space with vehicles or rocks and sticks?

i'm not denying that there are health benefits to be gained by running, it's a great cardiovascular work out, but it isn't great for your body as far as bones, muscles, and joints go; not to mention the more interesting places to run are either on roads with cars and morons or in the woods with cliffs and bears. You're just asking to get hurt.

don't let this distract you though, the point you missed is that euphoria is not an attribute capable of overcoming the negative side effects that are attached. If you need think of it as a quantitative assessment, you've got a whole bunch of substantial negatives on one side and the minor benefit of euphoria on the other. When you sum the values of both sides, you still end up with a negative.

im a junior in college and next week is finals week.  my buddy gave me one time release pill and i took it about an hour and a half ago.  it is the first time i have taken it and i think im starting to feel the effects.  my heart is going faster and im feeling really jacked like i just landed a new trick or something.  feels pretty awesome im going to study now cuz im feeling really alert and shit.  peace.

yo NS so ive never done drugs other then weed on occasion but i want to try adderal. I would obviously not try it for the first time before a test or when studying, just this winter break i wana try it just to see whats what about it.
So: are the negative side effects people talk about only from long term usage? Or will I go depressed on try?

if you use it once, your going to get dry mouth, loss of apatite, and maybe some other things

i've been using it for a year, not abusing it, and i still get all these side effects, and those long term effects havent really effected me, unless im actually on the drug. like over the summer i never took it and was fine. but now, when i take it, i can get pretty pissed easily
you wont get depressed on your first time... im not depressed and i take it every day

It really is amazing, I was skeptical so i took one yesterday (to study for finals this week) thinking it wouldn't do too much, man was I wrong.  I was able to sit at my desk and pound out calc problem after calc problem from 9am to 3pm with maybe 2 breaks the entire time.  Then today I didn't have another one so I was forced to study without, let me tell you I got maybe 50% of the work done today that I did yesterday.  Would recomend it highly for the occasional cram session.

man EVERYone has "ADD" these days. Like he said on the first page, this really just replaces will power. It also dulls passion. Again, not to claim, but I go to Middlebury College, which is one of the top liberal arts schools in the country.
I know soo many people who would never take this but study and work 20 hours a day, and LIKE IT! Not because they're on some BS perscription drug, but because they have a genuine passion for what they are learning.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great drug for the few people that need it, but it is WAY overperscribed. IMO it is cheating, and I would rather know that when I graduate everything I accomplished was a direct result of MY willpower, not some chemical helping me along the way.

If your refering to a perscrobed dosage( like take 100mg in the morning everyday), there is noo such thing, there are no 100mg pills either.

Then again you may be suggesting you took 3 30mg pills and a 10mg pill

or maybe you actually just took a 10mg pill which would make sense because its a baby dosage, smallest you can get.

If you were legitimatly on 100mg you would be awake for several days, probably not eat much if anything and be intensley focused. So im guessing you took a 10mg

ok, well people at middlebury are such good workers and enjoy is because their body does not have a need for adderall. i have a passion for chemistry, but i still cant sit and do shit because my body physically/mentally will not let me. taking it has changed this, and its not cheating, its just allowing me to work at my maximum potential

now cheating is extra time on tests. i know someone who got 100% extra time on the ACT, took it over 2 days, got a 35, and hes fucking retarded. now that shit is not fair
how is it a standardized test if not everyone is kept to the same standards? its such bulllshit. i would rape the ACT if i had the same time as them, the whole test is about time...

i love how the OP just totally disregarded the side affects of adderall.  he only talked about the good of the drug.  it really fucks you up so dont use it everyday. you should never use it. if you do have to (for exams or such) than go for it. just use on rare occasions if at all.

Don't take that stuff. It's highly addictive and really bad for. Comparable to X. People here in Holland take it all the time when studying, now it's a party drug as well because everyone's hooked on it. Fucked up shit.
