Most You've Ever Given To A Homeless Person?

The other day I had just gotten off the train, from university to come home for the weekend to ski.

I was waiting outside the station, browsing through my iPod waiting for mommy. A homeless guy sorta creeped up on me, and i took off my headphones, and he asked if he could ask a question, so i said shoot.

He then asked if i could come with him to buy him something to eat, so being lazy as i am, I  just gave him 10 bucks. He came back like 5 minutes later to prove he actually bought food.

It Felt decent.

he told me about his wife and child who he had to feed. they were both white and he was black it was obvious he was bullshitting me but i liked the attempt

i don't know the most i've given to somebody on the street, but i've dropped 20's in boxes for charities before. i don't know if i'd feel too comfortable giving that amount to somebody if i didn't know what they were going to do with it.

When I lived in boston I always hooked up the homeless with whatever food I didnt eat when I went out. Didn't usually hand out money because as bad as it sounds I don't trust where it will go. They are usually stoked to get some slices of pizza though.

I spent the summer in Ethiopia and bought about 10 little kids dinner one night. Actually felt kind of bad after because then they just expect they can pander to westerners....oh well

Although, during the summer my freinds went to pizza pizza and bought like 4 medium pizza's and handed out slices to homeless people. I dont see much homeless people though because i live a good 30 - 40 min from down town.

one time in lake placid we saw a guy asking for money but he didn't  look homeless. then we went into a starbucks and they were like "yeah he lives in a luxury suite in the crown plaza hotel". so we didn't give him anything

at work one day me and my friend ordered a large pizza and it was like two for one and we couldnt finish the second so we gave it to these two homeless guys who were super chill.

they talked about how they were trying to get to alaska and how the kids riding go karts looked like they were having so much fun haha we gave them free rides

my young english teacher told our class this a couple weeks ago...
He was walking home from a baseball game in detroit with some buddies, and a homeless guy came up, and asked him for some money for something to eat, being a very chill guy, he says sure man, and theres a subway right across the street so he says "here, come across the street and i'll get you a hoagie". the homeless guy yells "NIGGA, A HOAGIE WONT GET ME HIGH" and storms off.
i laughed for like 5 minutes.

exaacctllyyyyyyyyy....i mean im not hatin on all homestless people i would love to help the ones that screwed up and are trying to make there lifes better get a job get back on there feet, etc but for the most part they dont get the low in life for nothing many of them have drug problems and alcaholics and shit and giving money is making nnint worse. we could take these people put them in work camps and make them productive. i mean from there view, i smoke heroin (just sayin), i get free money from the goverment, random people, i get to do what i want to do for free why would i want to get bettter? fucken hate homeless people

me and a bunch of my friends used to go downtown with about 12 pizza's and give out slices to people, its just a good thing to do every once in a while and maybe it helped my karma a little, i felt good about it at least

if they have a really creative/funny sign i'll give them some money, i think the most i've given was like 5 bucks but overall i feel like for the most part they've fucked up their own lives

actually its not a good thing to do because your giving them a meal and keeping them out of shelters where they can get real help and get their lives back on track. so dont give homeless people anything, if you want to do something point them in the direction of a shelter where they can get some help.

but my girlfriend gave one like 60 one time, she felt bad cause the guy was like handicapped and walked all fucked up like spinobifida (holyshit?sp) and she feels bad for people i guess.

ok hear me out...
i think everyone should stop giving homeless people money and food and whatnot.
if we all unite and do that, they will HAVE to get off the streets and go to a shelter where they can turn their lives around.  It's not like they're actually going to starve on the streets. i mean, when's the last time you saw a dead homeless guy? never, exactly.

yea honestly giving money to homeless people does not help at all. Maybe if i have leftovers ill give them, but probably not even. Giving direct handouts to homeless people just contributes to the problem. Call me cold hearted, but i dont really like to contribute to homeless people's drug/alcohol problems

I gave a hobo some cheeseburgers and then he asked for a picture with me. He had an old Polaroid camera and stuck our picture in a little book where he kept all these other pictures of other people that had given to him. He said he would return the favor some day.

I gave a homeless dude like $5 in change once. He was really thankful, so it was kind of nice.

I went out to eat on Pearl Street Mall in Boulder at the Chicago pizza with my brother, his wife and my mom and dad. We had a few slices of left over pizza and they put them in a box for us. My mom had the idea of giving them to a homeless person on Pearl Street. My brother then continued to go on a rant about how they dont care about the food, all they care about is drugs and they won't even eat the pizza, they'll just throw it away. Goes to show how ignorant he can be sometimes.

I live in NYC, I grew up being taught specifically to treat the homeless as if they were ghosts. Though, I have given money to homeless people I have seen who can run a good hustle. I have a soft spot in my heart for a good scam. Also, there are a fair amount of homeless in NYC who perform. There is this homeless skateboarder in union square, he did a 360 flip to nose manual, so i tipped him.

one time there was this woman sitting outside voodoo donuts in portland at like 1 in the morning and she had the greatest sign ever ( i was not sober) it said i bet you a dollar you read this sign so i gave her a dollar and then i told all of my friends to read it so they gave her each a dollar added up to like 10 bucks

I was outside of fenway one night after a big sox win, and this guy opens up his wallet and throws a huno right in some homless guys cup...I've never seen a happier guy in my life.  That would be awesome to be able to do one day.

Also in boston theres the 1 handed push up guy who will do 20 one handed ones for 5 bucks.  All I had was some change on me so i said here just take, but he was like no and said thats at least worth 5. So he busted them out and i gave him my money...it was amazing.

I set a homeless guys cart on fire once, luckily it wasn't worth more than $100, or else I would have received a much harsher punishment from the state.

agreed to some extent, I feel like punching 20 somethin year old bums in the face if they ask me for money.

needless to say there are a good deal of older bums who suffer legitimate mental disorders that prevent them from leading normal lives, and I do pity them.

that was actually an extremely decent thing of her to do, I truly feel sorry for the physically handicapped who are in positions like that.

However, the lazy fuckers who play bongo drums and ask for money at Venice beach should be liquidated.

yea the city really is all about completely pretending they don't exist...on the way to a club me and a few friends stopped in MSG to take a leak, and this dude was in the bathroom on his knees pleading and crying and begging for money. It was pretty fucked, but like said, just ignored it.

its a poorly expressed legitimate statement, as I was exiting a market of choice the other day this lazy fucker with rotten dreadlocks and his disgusto bitch are just chillin there blowin cigarette smoke into the wind so everyone smells it as they come out. then the dude has the nerve to ask me for money. he has money to buy cigarettes but not food?

then there are the lazy santa cruz bums which always make me laugh, the dirty lazy hippy ones. one actually asked me "do you have a spare $20, for a decent meal?" I was like "fuck you, I don't even spend that on myself"
