hey ns. im looking for some good help on how to do sweet hand drag 3's. more particularily how to come out of the layed out cork. ive already checked the trick tip cult and searchbared, and it came up inconclusive....so im turning to SG. my mountian dosent have any decent sized jumps up yet so im more looking to see how they are done off rollers and knuckles.
but basically to learn them roll up sitting on your heelpieces then throw it like your goign to do a wormturn. you should be going fast enough that your skis will lift off the ground when you get to 180 and then slap your hands down as the ground falls away. push with your hands and kinda roll your hips and you should come around.
you want to find knuckle that goes up and then has a steep down so you get plenty of airtime. but basically if you do a hand drag one just get sidways in the air and use you hand to give you leverage to spin. then instead of stopping just keep your shoulders turn and look and youre at 3. its something that takes a few tries to get used to since its so unconventional
just set up like your going to do a 3. but drag your hand, it will cork you out a bit, you just need to get the timing right for when to pick your hand up out of the drad and you will get it
Ok, the way I do them is I come in sitting on the back of my skis (helps because you need more speed for these anyways, and easier to learn, I would sudjest learning this way first, then standing) and I spin left, so I drag my left hand. I usually start dragging on the top half of the lip (depending on how big it is). I lean totaly onto my left hand and turn your head and shoulders almost inwards, like a forward cork or w/e they are called. When your at the top lean and push off of your hand this brings you back to a regualr landing. This is off of jumps, havent tried hand drags off rollers yet.
It just takes lots of practice. Basically the jump I learned on had a rut up the left side from where my hand was dragging. They are so fun when you get them. good luck.
i would go too the knuckle, lean back too one side with my hand behind me, then just try and whip my skis up as high as i could. i only really did em too 180, tried a few 3's but didnt stomp as cleanly.
just do heaps, best feeling on skis when you get em. gnarly.
