Best ski movie 08/09

i searchbarred and was surprised nothing came up for this year, besides when omnly trailers were out...

basically my parents said they will only buy me a ski movie for christmas, so idk which to pick. i loved 7 sunny days and enjoy last year, yeah dude is not very exciting at all to me, and idea was alrighttt. LSS and SH6 are the 2 ive seen of level 1 and i dontt really like either. i have a feeling PBP and level made a comback with reasons and turbo though. SUGGEST ME A MOVIE!!!

oh and i like urban but not too much, park, bc, but cant stand watching big mountain

if you like enjoy i would highly recommend reasons. i got that and turbo. think i watched turbo maybe once while reasons. maybe 4 or 5 times.

If you can't stand big mountain, then under the influence and claim can be ruled out for sure. I'd say definitely check out turbo. Really good movie.

Turbo was really good.  pretty heavy on the urban, however you will still like it since the urban was just insane.  Good park shots, and great powder shots.  Big mountain was nothing to brag about but you don't go to hooters for the wings...

Another one I would suggest you check out is Journal, yes it has a tad more Big mountain but the Powder shots are just insane. the park segment is almost all from the poorboyz jib jam but that is nothing really to complain about as it is still sick.  the Urban is good too.

44 days was actually my favorite movie, after that turbo. Watched reasons and slamina today, both were solid, and slamina was better than I expected. I found out that Id already seen at least 1/3 of reasons in other movies + JOSS which was pretty lame. Abma and Carlson had killer segments though~

I'm gonna have to say Get Lucky. So far it is my favorite movie and I've seen Turbo, Slamina, Reasons, and the Massive.. Get Lucky was just. Awesome. I loved the way they filmed it, just beautifully done. So yeah why dont you "Get Lucky" this X-mas

^^^^The ski movie i most enjoyed this year was Road to Nowhere.

Of the big names I'd say reasons, wasn't impressed by Turbo and Claim wasn't that great at all.

if you want the best combination of everything go with Head for the Hills, plus the bonus movie and extras will keep you entertained, but if you're looking for west coast action and big name pros then you can't go wrong with poor boyz or level 1

So far this year I have Turbo, Reasons, The Massive, and Claim but still I think the best movie this year is definitely Hot Lunch.  It's short.  It's free.  It gets me more stoked to ski than anything I've seen so far and therefore takes the win in my books.

I have turbo and its good but it is a lot of urban(Some of the best urban this year though) but even though I like watching urban it was a little too much urban for me. same thing with slamina although also a good movie but if I could only choose one movie i would definately have to pick reasons:

1. So much diversity. It has everything, great park, great urban, and good big mountain/pow.

2. It has Andreas (and his brother) which is by far and away the best park segment this year.

3. Although the rails in it arent as good as turbo matt walker kills it in the urban segment. must see

4. The whole movie doesnt have great flow but the only time I watch a movie straight through is the first time I watch it. after that I just jump to individual segments which it has a lot of epic ones (especially sammy's segments).

If you like seven sunny days (I bought it last year and loved it) you will like reasons. Ideally you should have your parents buy you reasons and have your grandparents buy you turbo. haha

Reasons fucking rocked. PBP movies are always favorites of mine, the flow, editing, shots, and music is always so good. Plus it was really sick to have kind of a documentary feeling to it, some documentaries have too much talking and too little skiing, this had a really good balance. It was fucking awesome to hear some commentary of the actual riders at the beginning of their sections, really interesting stuff that puts skiing in a new perspective, makes you really think. Overall the riding was pretty much epic as well, it covers so many huge events that happened in the past year, JOI, Dumont's world record, the X Games (last year was a big progression for skiing).

Turbo probably came at a close second for me. The skiing was just off the chain, it has a way different feel and style to it though compared to reasons, doesn't compare at all.

Turbo is insane! I dont usually like urban segments, but the urban parts in Turbo is off the hook. And the rest of the film is crazy good too :)

hah i wish. my gparents are gettin me a jiberish hoody tho so its all good.

and i decided on turbo. it seemed to be the popular vote, but ill probably be buying journal and reasons on my own later in the year

I would say reasons, Hunting yeti(although short a bit short) or the massive. But judging by everyone else on the thread turbo and slaminia are pretty dope. I guess I need to pick those up.

ive only seen turbo so i cant help too much. but i thought i might add that SH6 and LSS were my two least favorite L1P movies (i started getting them at strike 3 (speaking of which strike 3 was so ill)). turbo was very similar to other l1p movies but wallisch and company killed it

I must be the only one who thought Massive was just epic.
Haven't seen turbo or any AM movies yet though.  Realtime was alright, the Japan seg was way sick though.  I don't really like urban though.  More about the pow and BC.

I think its very hard to argue slamina was better, but its still an am movie and thus easy to relate to, has a sense of fun about it~

Brogan had 1 shot in the movie but slayed the bonus features. He does like a huge switch 10 over the really poppy jump at copper which didn't make it to the movie. Ahmet and Wesson kill the urban. Hornbeck's part was my fav

Harlaut DESTROYS  slamina (sw 14, bc sw 12, disaster 4 pretzel 4 on the flat down box in NS)

Such is life was killer too. I really liked Cosco and Gus' parts.

I'd recommend Turbo, Slamina or Such is Life

Scratch the other movies. For your interest i'd go with Get Lucky. Really good park and urban + they've got the urban documentries in the bonus features which is key!

claim kinda sucked. The first time you see it you say WTF and after 3 more times of watching it, it seems ok. Turbo and reasons were goood
