Windows XP Desktop Question

It sounds stupid, but I cannot delete or hide the recycle bin shortcut from my desktop.  How do you do it?!?!?  It's the only icon that won't go away!!!

lol dude try this..

right click anywhere on your desktop, go to "arrange icons by"

and deselect the "show desktop icons" option.

see if that works for you, works for me!!

I forget how you do it in XP... I think it's under Desktop in your Control Panel... MAYBE it's in Settings/Customize or some shit when you right-click the desktop? Look in all the tabs there? Ionno, I stopped using XP awhile ago, Google that shit.

Technically, you can't get rid of it.  What you did keeps you from having any shortcuts on your desktop, which may be cool for you I personally don't like it.  I feel like that may get annoying though when you are trying to empty the trash.

i bet he wants to make a no-icon desktop, so you can see the whole bg. but it "somehow" kills the purpose of a desktop.

or maybe he reduced it to like 3 icons, and for some reason he does not want to have a fourth one, yeah thats it

Yeah, that's more of a band-aid than a fix unless you actually want NOTHING on your desktop because your Quicklaunch or RocketDocking it. There is a way you can get rid of the recycle bin specifically without getting rid of everything else, too.

Put another icon on your desktop and than select both. drag the new icon, moving both so that the recycle bin is off the screen. than delete the other icon

Ya I have a recycle bin on my Rocket Dock, and I don't want the icons because I have everything I want on there.  The icons get in the way of my icalendar and to do list that I have on the desktop as well.
