Looking for pow ski but have specific parameters

im looking for something to ski pow in the east coast but anything past 180 is just clunky because of the ridiculous tight trees around here (gore, killington, sugarbush). my question is what are a few smaller length skis that someone who is 6' and about 185lbs would be good for the rare and eleusive east coast powder day.

bacons are 182, but an amazing ski, and easy to throw around. shouldnt be too tough in new england trees.

I think they only come in 175 and 185 if you're refering to this year's ('09) JJs.

right you are 09 JJs are 175 or 185 so 175s are sounding good for the OP
though T Hall and JP seem to think ARGs are better for tree skiing but they blow on groomers...not so good for the east which is all groomery type stuff besides the rare pow

problem there is the east coast gets a lot of crud and crust (too much moisture in the air) to make the lizzies a true pow ski. tooo soft, tip will deflect a lot.

its a lot of ski, but supermojo 103s come in a 171. thatll give you float and a lot of power to crush variable coniditions.
gotamas come in a 178, that wouldnt be too shabby
jjs if you want something rockered but still a bit of versatility

ive seen alot of T-hall pics with the new JJ's, huge hits in BC.  the rocker on those should be epic, the reviews for them are pretty appealing.

your a big guy, get big skis, just something on the softer side. Im 61 180 and skied a pair or 189 seths east coast all the time last year mostly in really tight trees and I think the size is perfect. Smaller skis will just end up making you lean back more. making them harder to throw around.

Look into a PM gear 186 Lhasa Pow 112 under foot it skis a lot shorter due to the rockered tip yet keeps all the float you would want without sacrificing a lot of hardpack performance.Sick Tibeten themed graphics and FKNA made in the USA extra thick bases and edges

jjs' measure about 2-3 cms shorter than advertised but they are a sick ski.

Check out the Live Life 2's from surface skis. They are one of the most fun skis I have ever had a chance to ride. And they kill it on groomers and in the park as well as in pow. I have a pair of 189's that I'm going to be rocking as my pow ski and a 179 as my park ski.

The 179's would be a good choice for you if your going to be skiing a lot of tight trees and such since they will be a little more quick. And don't be intimidated by the rocker on them the nice thing about it is it acts a lot like a skateboard, because the nose and tail are flat and at an angle it make for some awesome nollies/ollies and has a bigger platform for butters/presses. It is definitely a ski worth checking out.

The dimensions for the 179/189's are- 140/112/132

Bacons are too soft in my opinion for east coast, so are the JJs.

I have a pair of 174 Rossi Steezes... slice through a lot of crap, turn on a dime, and are great everywhere.  They ride switch well too.  They have just the right amount of flex in the tip and tails, and will still slice through crud
