Schools internet

Dont know if this should be in media and arts, or if its gine her but oh well...

so my school's internet shuts down at 12 every night so kids will go to bed. Is there anyway to get around this? i already tried calling apple and they want wayy to much perosnal information, so help me out here!

what the hell's apple going to do if you have your connection cut off. that's like trying to get the lights working again by changing the bulbs in your house during a power outage.

dude, there just cutting the router or turning it off i think, the only way would be to have a direct line from the router (saying that they dont turn it off, just cut off oyur access) or just pay for your own interwebs...

you know, that is a great point....next time just use your head a little more.

It is obviously something to do with the internet diagnostics on my computer, seeing as how my friends macbook from home does not shut off. And if that si the case, then maybe apple could tell me under what preference to search, and hopefully help me find out what is doing it so i can change it.

you obviously didnt think about that one.

now i just dont understand what you're saying. if your friend is at home, that has nothing to do with the connection at your school. i.e, if i turn off the power at my house, it doesnt leave you in the dark at yours. if you're hooked up to separate networks, we're talking apples and oranges. however, if your friend has internet access at school while you do not, then yes, something could be poorly configured on your computer.

but, you also said that your school disconnects the internet at night, so how would this change your computer's configurations unless they physically had access to your computer.

his laptop FROM HIS HOME does not shut off, same with other kids i know, but everyones school issued laptop losses internet at 12. to do that, it has to be something set up on the laptop, and not just something that is "poorly configured".

i really think you should try to call some kid on on some other thread.

This could be way to simple of a fix but maybe the douche should try changing the clock on the computer, assuming that is what is determining the shut off.

You'll probably have to have the administrator password though. That is for anything more than changing the background pretty much.

pretty sure your "school-issued laptop" has parental control on it. Try fiddling with that its under System Preferences---> Parental Control.

If not, its probably something to do with your wireless router and maybe your friend has his own connection?

i didnt read the whole, but if your network administration knows a little how to play the game, you wont do anything they dont want you to do.

maybe hacking servers or stuff is working, but i wouldnt call it a possibility for anyone. and the best thing, if your internet runs over a single pc (proxy maybe) in the school net and this thing is shut off, well guess how much of newschoolers you will see

This might be a dumb answer but just change the time on the computer to 3 o'clock or something.  To make my free trials of some programs work forever i just turn back the date on my computer to within the 30 day trials end date.   Might not work but it may be worth a try.
