well, they're really handy if you have a lot of important information to store that would be really bad to lose. My uncle has like five 200 gigabyte ones to back up a lot of his stuff for work, so if his computer ever fails, the work won't be lost. And shit, you can fit a ton of information on one of those things. Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.
