Power went out at smuggs today

it was alright skiing, alittle icy but we hucked some cliffs into the unridden crust of wannabe powder
the power went out at smuggs
people got stuck on the lift until they set up the e-gens, which made it run really really slow.
( i was safely inside munching down on some hot diggities when this happened)
so we decided to leave...
heres what else happened:
we had a whiteout
somebody got t-boned pulling out of the lower mountain so we had to take a detour going home
the whiteout got worse so we could only see a few feet ahead of us.
we got stopped by the fire dept and a huge tow truck blocking the entire road pulling some guy out of a ditch for 20 minutes
20 feet later somebody else went off the road.
saw 2 more accidents closer to home and we followed the firetruck going 10 mph the whole way
so a 40 minute drive turned into a 2 hour drive, (but we were listening to led zep so it was alright)

That sucks.
Once at Stevens the lifts shut down and they had to evac people off of them in almost whiteout conditions. If I had taken one more run I would have been caught on the lift that broke.

I was at Sun Peaks a couple years ago and the power went out when I was on the lift. We had to wait probably half an hour for the lift to start going again and then it ran at half speed and it took 15 minutes to get up.

my dad got stuck on the lift at deer valley when the power went out one time, they were near the top though so when the generators were powering it they only waited for a half hour, but people towards the bottom had to wait like 4 hours

Being evacuated isn't that bad. I had to do it for ski patrol training. Being the one holding the rope with someones life at stake isn't fun.
