Ski techy messes up... should i bitch?

so got my ski's mounted on thursday, i specificly told the techy's to center mount it, he nodded and said thats smart for my type of riding and says he rides center aswell, so to me this felt like their was no confussion at all.  anywase i go tonight to the shop to pick them up, they diddnt look center mounted to the normal eye(my eye anywase) so on my way out a dude who worked their came started chatting about my bindings on how sick they are... witch it makes me think he knows very little because my bindings are marker m11.0 so their not even that good.. anywase we got talking more, i asked him if these looked center mounted to him, he replied yah blah blah blah. i forget lol.

anywase i got home, decided to measure if it was, and it turns out its about an inch back from center mount. now im aware i could go in and bitch at them, try to get free ski's yada yada, but is it really worth the trouble for just one inch? will it be that big of a drastic change that i wont have as much fun or kinda ruin the expirence? my buddy told me its not worth it over an inch to go threw all the trouble. he knows alot about skiing tho and he is pretty damn good at it as well.

any input/suggestions on what to do would be sick, thanks in advance.

Well it sucks that they fucked up and you should bring it to their attention but I think you should at least try them like that before you remount them and put more holes in your skis. I have the same skis mounted at what looks like the same place. I only have one day on them but they seemed pretty good where they were.

if someone came into my shop and demanded new skis cause of this i would laugh in their face...

however that being said if i were you i would go back to the shop and ask for a remount at no charge to you.

two sets of holes wont make that big of a difference anyways and this way you get the mount u wanted.


in the future take a marker and indicate a specific line where you want the skis mounted to avoid any confusion.

the same thing happened to my friend just go back and talk to them and they will most likely remount it for free (just make sure to make it totally clear this time) but ya they will never give you new skis or anything like that

that sucks they fucked up your pipe cleaners though

im guessing your going to be skiing park with those so i would get them at true center because if they are mounted back it will change your swing weight when youre spinning and an inch will make a difference

thats because that is a centre mount.  there are something like three centres to a ski

1. Running length centre - where the skis touch at tip and tail then meause to centre.  most likely what you got and which is what most ski stores will mount at.

2. Core centre - I believe this is where the centre mark on your ski will be it is like the running length centre its just where the material is thickest and is where most companies will suggest the begginer skier mounts at.

3. tip to tail centre - this is what you most likely wanted but is the hardest for ski stores to understand for some fucked up reason (atleast where im from).  This is where the skis are put tip to tail, then you measure the exact centre.  sometimes this even looks to far forward but thats most times because of the graphic on the ski.


you really just have to get this one fuck up mount job out of the way and from now on always ask for tip to tail centre if thats what you really want. Make sure the tech shows you how he measures out centre and then correct him if hes wrong.  they are your skis and they have to mount them like you ask.  best thing I think you can do now is just go get a complimentary mount from the shop and get them to fix it.  They will say thats what you asked for but just tell them to fuck off and mount your god damn skis correctly.

in my opinion, there is one center, which is true center. that sidecut center is bull, thats called recommended, and core center is the same place. i hate that so much. there should just be one center, which is truer center. anything else is recommended. im not saying that you are wrong im just saying that the whole system is wrong

Why don't all ski techs make sure to know exactly where the customer wants their skis mounted...

Its not so much an issue on directional skis, but for every twintip you see, you should ask them EXACTLY where they want it mounted. If they do not know, for some retard reason, then ask them the ratio of park-all mountain skiing that they will be doing.. if they plan on doing any park skiing at all, mount them AT LEAST 3 back of true centre.

I also sometimes take it a step further, and ask them if they want it centred based on the tip and tail, whether they want it mounted based on balance point, whether they want it based on where the FCP is (FCP: meaning Full Contact Point - the points on the ski in the tip and the tail where the first full contact with the snow would be).

I do not understand why shop techs cannot get it in their brain to make damn sure about this sorta thing... I do it on a daily basis...
