Teddy Knape Film Festival 2009
Crystal Mountain Resort, Thompsonville, Michigan
The 3rd Annual Teddy Knape Film Festival 2009 will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009
at Crystal Mountain Resort. The event honors the memory of Grand Rapids filmmaker
and skier Teddy Knape. He was a longtime friend of Crystal Mountain and shot many of
his first films here at the mountain. He passed away while shooting a film in a remote
location in British Columbia. One of his favorite spots at Crystal, the Back Bowl, has
been since renamed "Teddy's Turn" in his honor and memory.
This yearʼs event will again feature an amateur film contest. Filmmakers who submit
their skiing or snowboarding film on DVD by December 20, 2008 will have a chance to
win FREE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING! Registration forms and more details are
available.
The event will run throughout the day with premiers of multiple newly released extreme
ski and snowboarding films but at 5:00 p.m. the party begins. This family event will offer
fun for all ages with many raffles including ski chairs and lots of ski and snowboarding
gear. The amateur films will be previewed and winners revealed as well as many new
and exiting events. The cost $3 or free admission with a t-shirt or raffle book purchase.
All the proceeds will go to the Northern Michigan Adaptive Ski Program. This program
offers amazing skiing opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
